Perfect day to visit Clementine Dam. @PGE4Me can generate up to 15 megawatts of hydropower through the dam. That’s enough to power up to 15,000 homes.

BEFORE AND AFTER Ten days ago, the Valley floor was dry after weeks without rain. A few storms later and today's satellite was just clear enough to show the water that is flowing from the Sacramento River into the Yolo Bypass.

Water releases are being utilized (and have been for a long time) to mitigate bigger flood risks if more storms were to come through. The rain that's making this necessary is...well...the weather. There's no special button or switch for that.
Good thing that @POTUS has opened up the water in northern California. Flooding and more rain in the north.

We're seeing flooding in the usual spots along the Sacramento River today. Discovery Park is now closed indefinitely. Rising rivers are a product of a rainy stretch of weather and the necessary reservoir releases that started days ahead of it. @kcranews

(2/2) The snowpack needs some help around Tahoe places south. Hasn't been a good "cold" storm to dump snow around 5,000'. Today's storm will start cold but the snow level will shoot back up to 7,000' later this evening. Snow level drops to 4,000' tomorrow as storm moves away.

More rain, snow and a little wind comes back Thursday. Rain will not be as heavy and likely *won't cause the issues we saw Tuesday. Snow will be great above 7,000' BUT the snow level will be all over the place - with rain mixing from 4000'-6000'. @kcranews

A day after heavy rain, there's twice as much water going into Lake Oroville as there is water coming out. Even with releases on the main spillway, the lake is filling up. Hourly data is publicly posted at

10:00 pm TUESDAY A short stretch of Highway 99 is closed in Lodi because of flooding. This is only affecting the southbound lanes. No estimated time of reopening but rain has ended.
