H.E President Dr. @WilliamsRuto, C.G.H., received Sahiwal semen from @KAGRC_KE, a vital resource for farmers to improve their herds. This initiative will empower communities and strengthen the livestock sector by enhancing milk and meat production. As part of the Bottom-Up Economic Agenda, breeding programs like such as this one play a crucial role in boosting livestock productivity and economic growth at the grassroots level. By improving cattle genetics, Kenya aims to enhance dairy and meat production, thereby supporting local economies and contributing to national food security. #BETA #Livestock breeding #Sahiwal

Today in Laikipia County, KAGRC Board Chairman: Dr. Nur Nassir and Managing Director: Dr. Benadatte Misoi joined CS @Mutahi__Kagwe, PS Livestock Development: Hon. @jmueke, Governor Joshua Irungu, national and county government livestock departments, and farmers for the launch of the nationwide livestock vaccination program against FMD in cattle and PPR in goats and sheep. The nationwide livestock vaccination program launched in Laikipia County is a significant step towards improving livestock health and productivity in Kenya. By vaccinating cattle against Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) and goats and sheep against Peste des Petits Ruminants (PPR), the program aims to achieve 85% herd immunity. Vaccination and genetics are powerful approaches to improving livestock productivity. Vaccination helps to protect animals from disease, while improved genetics helps to increase their production potential. Together, this will help farmers produce more milk and meat, which will contribute to food security and economic growth in Kenya.
