@NarnianMWiggle Yup. Instant regret. He called for a mass exodus from the GOP the very next day after Trump won the 2016 election. Stupid.

@tangyoj No, saying them ignorant would be harping about how "we're a republic but not a democracy" but then calling Senators traitors for not supporting a President's nominees because "he won the election and deserves to have who he wants."

Would you not agree, sir, that it is the checks and balances and the separation of power within our system that makes us a republic and not a democracy? To what purpose do think we even have a nomination process if the President should simply get whoever he wants because "it is his policies she will implement, not hers?"

This is what I mean when I say that populism is non-ideological. It doesn't matter what you believe, it doesn't matter what you stand for, it doesn't matter what policies, principles, or values you've stood for in the past...all that matters is that you pay obsequious court to "the people" and their designated champion.
I love that I'm a RINO because I voted for McMullin in 2016, but you can be in Pres. Trump's cabinet of you actively campaigned for Sanders that same year.

The President takes an oath to faithfully execute the laws of the United States. The USMCA was passed by both houses of Congress and signed into law by Donald Trump himself in his first term. The tariff shenanigans were a violation of that trade agreement, meaning that, yes, Donald J. Trump violated his oath of office. The fact that this is not the headline, even among left-leaning publications, is an indictment of our entire political culture and shows just how numb we have grown to the arbitrary exercise of power from the presidency. In far too many ways, Donald Trump has revealed, rather than created, the post-constitutional presidency.
