Paisley case clear - he broke rules governing expenses. McElduff case was one of interpretation of fact: he fooled about with loaf so MUST have been acting in a sectarian manner. Everyone who knows McElduff - incl unionist politicians - know he's the opposite of sectarian.
Barry McElduff significantly lowered the bar in terms of political resignations in NI. Very difficult to see how the DUP can support Ian Paisley staying on as MP or as the party’s candidate in a bye-election.
