only buzzwords for the WRU to tick a box. What I witnessed on Sunday was disgraceful. Six substitutes not used in a game as the coaches felt it was too tight to put them on the field of play at all, despite @DragonsHUBs rules stating that every player should get equal game time.

@caerau10 @RugbyPhilBB @WelshRugbyUnion Totally Liam. Their behaviour is impacting on the enjoyment and wellbeing of a large number of young players. It’s terrible to see the direct impact it causes firsthand. Players are leaving the game in droves and yet the @WelshRugbyUnion doesn’t want to address the poor practice

The @WelshRugbyUnion wonder why young people are walking away from the game when they fail to address poor behaviour like this. This was a masterclass in how to undermine young player’s confidence and destroy their enjoyment. With the spotlight on the @WelshRugbyUnion following

@LeeJarvis10 It’s mindsets like yours is causing so many problems in junior rugby. Coaches only focussing on the win and not bringing as many as they can through to youth rugby. You moan about the issues in senior rugby but fail to see that you are part of the problem of dwindling numbers

@WyreDavies There is a story here. It fits into the landscape of your recent programme discussing the issues within the community game. Its toxic, scandalous and widespread, affecting the wellbeing & enjoyment of many children and impacting long term on player retention in wales

All of this in the full view of @WelshRugbyUnion staff who didn’t even challenge their poor coaching practices on display and flagrant disregard for the @DragonsHUBs rules. The coaches/managers from this team should hang their heads in shame as should the @WelshRugbyUnion .

@LeeJarvis10 It’s not all your fault obviously Lee but you go on TV talking about the issues within senior rugby and yet you can’t see that a win at all cost mentality in m&j rugby feeds this issue. We need to keep as many interested in the game to ensure clubs have plenty coming through

@caerau10 Far better today thanks Liam. The numbers available for the game were far lower so got half a game. More importantly he enjoyed the opportunity and had a good game.

@GarethHinge @RugbyPhilBB @WelshRugbyUnion That’s great at minis. It’s impossible in Junior rugby due to the numbers required. The club that I am involved with is signed up to the half a game rule. Every other team within the club deliver against this. The problem is that the win at all cost mentality is more important

they are all for development, fair play, equality and enjoyment but chose to ignore issues when they are brought to them and don’t want to have the challenging conversations with the individuals perpetuating this behaviour as it’s one big boys club.

@DummySw1tch @caerau10 @RugbyPhilBB @WelshRugbyUnion I’ve seen that in this team. They effectively had an A and a B but didn’t call it this. At u12s they moved to 15 a side and the only focus has been on winning and picking what they perceive as the strongest team to try and win to the detriment of enjoyment and participation

@ianapharri Sadly these poor cultural attributes flow into the community game also where the @WelshRugbyUnion @geraintrugby ignore the potentially critical issues of bullying and victimisation of children by adults

@DummySw1tch @caerau10 @RugbyPhilBB @WelshRugbyUnion Within this particular club it’s not the ethos of the club that’s at fault it’s only this one team and its coaches. Parents within the team are scared to stand up and challenge them as they are concerned that this action will impact upon their child and his well-being.

@ianapharri @WelshRugbyUnion @geraintrugby Please have a look at my previous thread 🧵 on my experiences in the community game. I am currently working through a process with my club and if my concerns aren’t addressed by them I will be escalating them to yourself and @jeremyrogers25 to address.

of the young players within these teams. How much harm are these bullies putting these players through week in week out and what will make anyone stand up and address these issues within Mini and Junior rugby in wales? It’s toxic. @WalesOnline @WalesRugby @BBCWales @BBCWalesNews

@JoeWilsTyrch @WyreDavies @WRU_Community Wholly agree. It’s happening in the @dragonsrugby region also with players being poached by egotistical coaches and subsequently displacing players that have been at the club for a number of years. Devastating for the wellbeing of the children and families involved

@JoeWilsTyrch @WyreDavies Thanks Joe. I hope that @WyreDavies takes an interest in this as it adds to the troubles the @WRU_Community game is facing. More importantly however is the impact on the young players enjoyment, experience and wellbeing. But like you say as long as the coaches get a W who cares?

@mikemdvs @Deavessss The world revolves around Cardiff you should know that! In all seriousness though I’ve seen a greater uptake in participation of younger players in 2s or development teams.

Why can’t the @WelshRugbyUnion work actively to deliver on their vision set out in their coaching code of practice and stamp out this poor behaviour exhibited by coaches living their dreams and “almost made it” rugby careers through the teams that they coach to the detriment

@bigtayls90 @ConradPrice12 @FalklandFisher @LLanharanRFC @HMRCgovuk @WelshRugbyUnion Struck a nerve? @PenarthRFC do not pay. We are a community outfit built with boys from in and around Penarth. We DO NOT pay unlike @LLanharanRFC who pay the majority of their squad. What I’m most disappointed with is that the @WelshRugbyUnion @WRU_Community ignore it @HMRCgovuk

When are the @WelshRugbyUnion & @HMRCgovuk going to seriously look into @LLanharanRFC ? Have they signed the statement of truth and declaration of compliance? Both organisations talk about dealing with the issue of paying players but I am yet to see any evidence of them doing so

@GarethHinge @RugbyPhilBB @WelshRugbyUnion That is a problem I agree. These EGO coaches are only focussed on getting the WIN and this potential WIN comes to the detriment of SOME of the players in the team. Competitive fixtures definitely exacerbates this problem and gives these EGO coaches an opportunity to flex

@caerau10 Agree @caerau10 . There are sone good people at a community level doing great things for the community. However in my experience they are let down by the corporate and governance side of the organisation which is an old boys network
