@57seoras There's a place not a million miles from here that I've always wanted to visit but never quite managed to 'cos it sits in the grounds of a private house. Slightly macabre but perhaps still the footprint remains of 1600's "plague huts"...

@Bo_Dearg @57seoras It's a few yrs since I last visited, still in the renovation process but the cottage looked quite tidy & thatching looked great, you did a smashing job.

@57seoras There's a few photo's on Canmore. From memory I 'think' it was being renovated as a holiday rental. As irritating as that can be it's probably the best way to preserve it (like you say, few folk would want it and its upkeep as a home).

@Ianlyall9 Remarkably, news of the surrounded and cut-off men made it into at least one newspaper, the 'Nottingham Evening Post' dated 29th Nov, 1916. Copied transcript below. Second-Lieut. Malcolm Murray Lyon was just 18 years-old at this time, not much more than a boy.

@Wes_Pitkerro @Historic_Ally It's just awful. To make things worse, the ones in my garden were gigantic, to the point that I suspected it was actually a neighbour and not a cat. But I think it probably was a cat.

@Historic_Ally What really gets me is that you never really know what cats are thinking, it could be anything. Another good reason for a ban.

@gordyddim I just googled them, they look good. I think I'm so set in my ways though. One drawback with the zippo is that they're not great for lighting meths fuelled trangia stoves, somehow I always burn my fingers 🤷🏻‍♀️

@jenny93076468 I always get a row for forgetting to cut my finger nails. It's not so much that I forget but that they grow incredibly quickly, some sort of genetic abnormality I guess 😁
