As one of the organisers of the Palestine demos let me be absolutely clear: this is not going to happen. The right to free assembly is not a commodity available only to those who can pay. Act on this dopey suggestion and you’ll be defied and then defeated politically.
There is a huge resource cost to the police of the repeated pro-Palestine marches, which are due to start again next weekend. My forthcoming review will ask the govt to consider making organisers pay towards policing costs. Piece by
