A couple of weeks ago @USFWS proposed that the Antillean manatee (as seen in #PuertoRico) be added to the #endangeredspecies list, but not the #Florida #manatee. The comment period is open until March 17.

Two things: (1) Just because it's cold on your street doesn't mean the entire world it cold. In fact, it was silly-hot in January♨️. (2) Unless we get our act together, we're 🔩
January 2025 was quite unexpectedly the warmest January on record at 1.75C above preindustrial, beating the prior record set in 2024. This is despite the presence of La Niña conditions in the tropical Pacific, with the El Niño event of 2023/2024 long faded.

BREAKING: Acting @EPA Administrator James Payne has fired the agency's science advisors. They will be replaced in order to, he says, "ensure that the agency receives scientific advice consistent with its legal obligations to advance our core mission," whatever that means.
