Just had a phone call with a recruit and his parents came on and asked what type players we look for. Hard throwers, crafty guys, guys who run, hit for power, guys who hit for average and my answer was none. We look for WORKERS... a Worker can turn into a guy who is all the above

HS players: Don’t forget that the flashiest gear, best rated cafeteria pizza, and most wins are not the end all be all when looking for a program. Pick the place that will give you the BEST OPPORTUNITY to become the player, student and person you want to be in a few years.

Fitting 29 players, 3 coaches, baseball gear, luggage, and baseball equipment in two 14 passenger vans for a spring trip. Each guy gets $25 meal money for the week. Stole every foul ball from that facility all week long so we had BP balls, and that’s only the tip of the iceberg

The right mentality is still out there. Hard to find but it’s out there. A young man just came up to campus for a visit on a Friday night in the middle of summer....doesn’t care where he hits or what position he plays. Just wants to help the team, get an education, win, and WORK.

First true day of no baseball... Stay at home dad life already hitting hard. My 10 month year old son rips off his diaper and pees on the carpet. As I’m cleaning it up, he crawls to the dogs water bowl, knocks it over and plays in it. Now he’s mean mugging me.

Coaching is not easy. Ridiculous hours, family sacrifices, unpredictable conflict and issues coming from all directions, unqualified people questioning every move, low compensation. Anything other than SUPPORT for a competent and hardworking coach is UNACCEPTABLE!
