CW: domestic violence. Poem from my recent collection Panic Response about my chemistry teacher, Avril Brown, who was very kind to me and who deserves to keep shining. (Been talking about her owing to the misogynistic killings in Bushey, which is where she taught me.)

Gorgeous 1939 painting of Elizabeth Bishop's house. It's by Loren MacIver, the first woman represented in MOMA's permanent collection, and uses watercolours and ink on paper. (Everything is just rainbow, rainbow, rainbow. Looks like she let the fish go too - always wise.)

W. S. Merwin. One of my favourite poems of his to not feature in Migration: New and Selected Poems, this is from The Carrier of Ladders (Atheneum, 1970).
