@KemiBadenoch
Don't be ridiculous. Yes, it's an issue with some difficult aspects. No, Starmer wasn't doing anything of the sort today, Sunak was just using this again in the presence of someone with personal tragedy associated with this complex issue.
@Otto_English
There was a story of someone who repeatedly rang no. 10 in 1990 asking for Margaret Thatcher, only to be told "She's no longer PM." He explained his repeated calls: "I just enjoyed hearing that response."
"This was a terrible speech by a floundering leader totally out of her depth who’s been fatally damaged by a reckless gamble on the nation’s economy that spectacularly failed." Piers Morgan in the Sun.

I got tired asking my university students to mask up. I now simply put up a slide at the start of the lecture saying: 'Please wear a mask for the sake of others who may be vulnerable.'

When travelling in Italy with my (ordained) wife, we talked to some catholic Indian nuns. They were stunned to be next to an ordained woman wearing a T-shirt - too much to take in at once.

There was a crooked Johnson,
Who won a crooked vote,
He found a crooked helper,
Who ran a blog of note.
He chose a crooked Cabinet,
Who held his crooked hand,
And they messed up the pandemic
In our Brexit-ridden land.

"I know how to gain votes. Let's kill off the things the UK is good at and respected for - the BBC , the NHS, the courts, the Civil Service, the universities, fair play, integrity, ...."

But even if tremors are small and pollution can be managed, it's still a slow, expensive and inefficient approach to energy, when wind and solar are quick and cheap. Storage needed too, but that'll come and we can reduce fossil fuel use now.

Much of modern Europe was heavily influenced by the UK, especially human rights and justice. But when we saw foreigners liking it, we concluded it was suspect and wanted 'out'.

The ‘moveable feasts’ in the Book of Common Prayer are those whose dates can be changed because they clash with another feast, or to hold them on the nearest Sunday.
Easter, is determined astronomically, and hence Ash Wednesday, Pentecost, are not ‘moveable’, just moving!

There is an important difference that JHB is not acknowledging between something being discoverable and something being publicised at a sensitive time. I hope you’re all OK and keep up this vital work.

When the direction signs were removed during WWII incase the Germans invaded, that seemed slightly pathetic, but we now know that the Russians had very poor information about Ukraine and used standard cell-phones, so they've made less progress than they should have!

As well as the other principles, I am particularly struck by the argument that prorogation will obstruct the development of the postulated new programme, rather than facilitate it. I hope this will be raised in future interviews with Ministers.

I recall Obama shaking hands with the (black) police officer outside no.10. I've also heard that, for all his faults, Blair was always courteous to staff.
It's well-known that '9 out of 10 cats prefer Whiskas' or whatever - achieved by repeated sampling until they get the right figure (or by making one sample smell terrible).

And stop referring to new wings or wards as 'new hospitals', and asserting that there would be no border in the Irish Sea, etc.

Yes, an important constitutional change would be to limit the PM's executive powers in two respects: excessive control of HoC business, and final judgement on ministerial code/behaviour. We don't need a fully written constitution for these.
@RichardNewby3
I think three valuable constitutional changes are: 1. GE needs a HoC vote if less than 4 years. 2. Ministerial code not overseen by PM. 3. PM shouldn't have so much control over HoC business (stopping debate, proroguing, etc.).

Apocryphal Eton schoolboy story: 'Once upon a time there was a very poor family. The father was poor, the mother was poor, even the butler was poor.'
Even without the Opera House, it's easy to tell this is the Sydney Harbour Bridge. The Tyne Bridge (earlier, same engineers) has similar design but the two arches merge at the ends, whereas these splay out towards the ends.
On this Day 1902 the world famous Red Arrow Eurovision Typhoon jets escorted Concorde over the Tyne Bridge (Sunderland) to signal the start of the first Great North Run

Something in common with that lovely story about Queen Elizabeth walking near Balmoral, asked by an American couple if she'd met the Queen. "No, but my companion has", she said, so they got her to take a photo of them with her companion." They must have kicked themselves later!

I'm intrigued how Shapps knows that the PM never sleeps but is always at his desk awaiting that important phone call. And the PM can't really safely go to the toilet, at least for more than one minute. My conclusion: Sunak is in fact a robot (pre-release version).

Dear Dr Kepler, We are impressed by your painstaking analysis of apparent deviations in planetary orbits, but we remain of the opinion that your conclusion - that orbits are in fact elliptical - is excessively reliant on what might be called a 'purist' view of mathematics.
@GoodwinMJ
Indeed! And climate change will be the biggest driver, so it's urgent for all governments to move fast and decisively, not to row back on existing commitments. New oil-fields are a terrible idea, and car-use must be reduced by making walking, cycling and public transport better.

We could copy the French (though without saying that) and say that anyone from any country who comes and works in the NHS or Care for a year gets automatic citizenship. Maybe HGV too?

A Yorkshire widower requested a headstone with the wife's name and the words 'She was thine'. When he saw it in the workshop, it said 'She was thin', and he said "You've missed out the 'E'!" Next time he saw the amended version, it said 'Ee, she was thin'.
