This is not true. There is no UN Human Rights committee. The UN Human Rights Council is not a court & doesn’t have the power to overturn domestic court decisions. In SA the Con Court is the end of the road.

MKP is going to use the Constitution it wants to get rid of? Anyway MKP can’t block the sitting of the NA by not attending. There are 400 members. As long as there’s a quorum of 201, the NA can sit & elect a Speaker, Dep Speaker & President.

The Mag Courts are indeed nowhere near where they should be. However Dr Hlophe is not correct about the Crim Proc Act. Sec 50(6) is about remands for a max of 7 days for a bail application - & not for further investigation. Also 40 remands a day is a gross exaggeration.
