My hottest Supes take is that the best and most holistic take on his character does not exist in the white imagination.
No version of Superman has ever lived up to the whole "he's a space immigrant" angle in any way that really matters, because he's consistently written by white American men.
This is, of course, excluding the GOAT Superman Smashes The Klan by Gene Luen Yang.

Many people who grew up on mainstream media that had to dance around queer censorship see more explicit verbal rep like this and think it's "cringe" because it's not what they're used to-and that's really narrow minded!
Kick out the "Don't Say Gay" that lives in your head.
Thinking back to when my ex roommate said this line was forced as hell and how it was corny etc. But like. When have we EVER had a nb character straight up say that they're nb they/them in kids media? I'll never understand how this is forced, when it hardly ever happens at all.
