As a kid, I dreamed about Notre Dame. By my senior year of high school, I accepted that dream was probably just that -- a dream.
One rejection and one acceptance later: my parting words on a place that means everything to me, my now-alma mater,
@NotreDame
Notre Dame defensive back
@BMoe_21
has "MICKEY" on his wrist tape today. Fellow cornerback Jaden Mickey's mother, Nilka, sadly passed away earlier this morning after a battle with cancer.
Fantastic result tonight but we need to talk about this.
First and foremost, what he said is not even remotely close to true.
Secondly, in front of a national audience, including many new US soccer fans, he fanned the mysognistic flames that already exist in USM/WNT spaces.
Charlie Davies says that due to the equity regulations within US Soccer, the men’s team couldn’t hire someone like Pep Guardiola if they had the chance because they would have to pay the women’s coach a similar amount.
He essentially said that limits their options.
Since my page is getting some traffic today I would like to to remind everyone part of the reason Notre Dame’s mascot is the Fighting Irish is some of the schools early students, led by one of the Four Horsemen no less, bullied the KKK out of South Bend. Which rocks, so much.
100 years ago today, the Ku Klux Klan wanted to showcase its power and cement its sudden grip on Indiana politics by holding a picnic and parade in South Bend, the most Catholic area in the state.
#NotreDame
students didn't let that happen:
Lost in the Berhalter discourse is the fact that this group will clearly go to war for him. Stuff like that matters in big games like this, and came up huge when this team had their backs to the wall twice, and responded twice.
🚨Personal news🚨
I’m unbelievably honored to announce I’ll be spending this summer as an Editorial Intern at
@ESPN
in Bristol, Connecticut.
I grew up demanding my family go to ESPNZone on 42nd St. every year on my birthday. I can’t wait to get started at the Worldwide Leader.
Per sources, Notre Dame football is using simulated crowd noise at practice today. The source is me, I’m passing the practice facility on my walk presently. My AirPods are at full blast and I can still pretty clearly he the… whatever sort of noise it is… so it’s definitely loud
Fun fact: with
@NDlacrosse
’s win today confirming them as national champions through next Memorial Day, Notre Dame’s 2025 graduating class will be the first class since Grace Hall’s construction in 1969 to have the No. 1 lit from freshman Domerfest all the way through graduation.
🚨Personal News🚨
I’ll be returning to Bristol and the

Trending team full-time after I graduate.
I'll never forget begging my parents to take me to ESPNZone in Manhattan every year for my birthday. I'm unbelievably honored to continue with the Worldwide Leader.
The state of New Jersey. Put them on the Garden State Parkway heading towards the shore on a Friday afternoon, with current traffic still in place. You want real racing? You’ll get real racing.
Did some math last night.
I’ve written just over 100 articles about Notre Dame soccer. I’ve spent roughly 8,000 total minutes at Notre Dame soccer games, in four different states.
Tonight was my 81st Irish soccer game. And my last as a student.
PER SOURCES: Ricardo Pepi has narrowed down his choices to Mexico and the United States, and will be choosing between one of the two tomorrow.

Little known fact: my degree isn’t actually in journalism
A dream came true when I graduated this weekend. It will always be the honor of a lifetime to call myself an alum,

@NJGov
entered one of the most divisive platforms on the internet representing one of the most divisive state populaces in the Union amd has managed to turn into a symbol of unity and a cultural phenomenon in just months. What a way to end the decade.
Was told in the press box Notre Dame received roughly 1,000 student ticket requests ahead of the game. Not sure how many kids who requested tickets actually showed up, but for perspective that’s a little more than 1/9th of the school’s entire undergraduate student body. Insane.
“I think it was the best soccer crowd in the history of this program and it is a big reason why we are going to the College Cup.” - ND Head Coach Chad Riley

. No deal yet but both Head of Sport Kevin Thelwell and Red Bull Global want it done. The 17 y/o has 3 goals+5 assists in 11 USL games this year.
Most of my followers know me as the dude who attended 110 Notre Dame sporting events last year. I’ve lost track of the amount of recap bylines I’ve accumulated for the Observer.
This is not one of them.
On loneliness, identity, and why I do what I do:
Random late night tweet: my sister’s u10 team that I coach plays a game at Red Bull Arena tomorrow. I’m coming directly to the stadium from work. 50 likes I’ll coach in my suit.
In 2016, Miles Robinson was leading Syracuse’s backline in ACC play. He hadn’t been capped by any US youth teams prior to his time with the Orange. Tonight, he scored the winner against Mexico to help the USMNT lift their first Gold Cup since 2007.
Support. College. Soccer.
My first year at Notre Dame the Irish made the College Cup but I wasn’t able to cover it in-person because I had a final exam that same day.
Two years later, as a senior, I’ve made it back. What a view. What a beat. This is so, so cool.
Wisconsin lost to Indiana by 8. Indiana lost to Ohio State by 7. Clemson is currently losing to Ohio State by 21. We were robbed. The Badgers are better than Clemson and clearly should have been the 2 seed

Good morning. It is 12am on June 10th, 2022. John Michael Bertrand is on the mound for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish today. With a trip to the College World Series on the line. Get hyped.

Michigan State had four *total* Big Ten wins in the four *years* prior to Jeff Hosler’s hiring. They got five in his first year alone. Year two, they’re atop the entire conference with one week left in the regular season. This is his resume pre-MSU. The dude is a magician lol
Two things can be true:
1) Wrexham would get lit up by any MLS team and it’s pretty annoying ESPN has opted to go all in on marketing them instead of any game back in the States when they’ve had the ability to do so for years.
2) This is objectively fun and cool
Remarkable that these accounts won’t admit
A) the players are better than they think, they won in spite of Gregg’s apparent harmful idiocy
or
B) GGG is a better coach than they think, he won with this apparently terrible team
One of A or B has to be true! It can’t be neither!
Since taking over as
@Pitt_WSOC
head coach Randy Waldrum has led the Panthers to:
- Their three best seasons in program history
- A first-ever NCAA tournament appearance
And now a first-ever win over UNC, and a first ACC semi-final appearance. An absolutely incredible rebuild.
IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: my voice has been DESTROYED all week by a cold. Blame the Fisher Hall water quality.
But lo and behold, I present to you: the most high-pitched, hoarse, embarrassing, and electric call of my very brief radio career.
Yesterday I wrapped up my summer internship at ESPN. It was the opportunity of a lifetime and I can’t give enough thanks to
@elizabeth_baugh
,
@Tory_Barron
, and
@I_Jeremy
for taking me in for the last three months.
Looking ahead, a State of the Account entering the Fall semester:
This is the year. Christian Pulisic has improved so much under this new system. He’s focused. He’s having fun. I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s a dark horse for the Heisman.
The winning for
@ndwbb
didn’t stop on Monday. Guard Sarah Cernugel, serving as head coach of Lyons Hall, led the Lions to a dorm championship tonight.
Per a team spokesperson, it’s believed to be the first interhall title in any sport for Lyons in modern history.
I frequently joke on here about the fun and often-haphazard ventures of student media but the fact that it should and most likely will be a DailyNU article that causes Fitzgerald’s firing speaks volumes to its value and necessity on any college campus. Support student journalism.
Seeing a clip of Marcus Freeman answering a question I asked on midnight SportsCenter with
@notthefakeSVP
is by some distance the most surreal moment of my student journalism career. What a way to cap off my time covering Notre Dame football as a student.
Doctor asked me if I was sexually active morning so I just told him about how I think the USMNT needs to fire Berhalter and hire Antonio Conte and he understood the answer
Per source (asking her as she walked out of the press conference), Olivia Miles has 3 pages of a political science paper due tomorrow in a class I’m in her with completed
It’s unacceptable. Not only is it plainly wrong, it’s a lie that only contributes to the very real divide between US(M)NT fans and US(W)NT fans. That’s not growing the sport in America. That’s using an already unjustifiably critiqued cause as a soundbite for the sake of clicks.
Everyone is saying this was in spite of Gregg and they do it for each other. Come on now. You can criticize Berhalter, and call his tactical choices poor. That’s absolutely fine and often reasonable. But let’s not pretend like the players themselves clearly don’t love him.
Logging off for the night to study. If this tweet gets 100 likes by the end of the day tomorrow I'll show up to coach my 10 year old sister's teams' first soccer game of the fall in a full suit.
The line at the front gate an hour before the opening tip of

Day One in-person after working remotely from Fisher Hall room 136 and the student media desk on the second floor of the Duncan Student Center for the last six months. ✅
Pretty cool.
Thread of work I've read that student journalists at Northwestern have done. IMO, all of this is must-read stuff, both for any fan of college athletics and for any student journalist looking to learn how to handle a delicate and significant situation:
Excited to announce I was named Notre Dame student media’s Multimedia Journalist of the Year! No commitment graphic this time sadly.
In related news, congrats to the great
@JIMedia21
on being named Broadcaster of the Year!
I've been shouting out the Spartans in my weekly Big Ten power rankings, but it's probably worth a thread to discuss just how impressive of a job new
@MSU_wsoccer
coach Jeff Hosler (
@JKHosler
) has done in Year 1. He's led one of the quickest and most stark turnarounds I've seen.

Given the context of the discourse over the last few days I truly think team USA beating Pakistan at the Cricket World Cup has an argument for funniest sports upset of all time
