Reporting. Vancomycin (antibiotic) on the left, a siderophore (bacterial iron chelator) on the right. Dopamine plus norepinephrine on the wrists. Zero regrets. 👊🏽
Im ECSTATIC to share our publication describing our approach to the mobile clinics. Im also still in shock to be a PharmD first author in the LANCET! A three-tiered approach to address barriers to COVID-19 vaccine delivery in the Black community
As residency season approaches, I have one PSA: Stop bringing marginalized residents into environments that are not inclusive, only to "let them go" when they are deemed "underperformers." It is truly a waste of EVERYONE'S time.
On Saturday I will be the lead PharmD in a vaccination clinic catering to the Black community. I have never been more excited, anxious, and nervous lol More than anything, I am honored. I always get the question of “how do I know I’m getting the vaccine that everyone else is gets
Today I became the first Black PharmD to receive an award from the

In April, I ridiculously thought that it would be a FANTASTIC idea to write four first-author papers and try to get them accepted lol well, today I report a 100% success rate. I lost my sanity along the way, but we made it LOL
I’m excited to announce my recent appointment to the Clinical Microbiology Reviews
@ASMicrobiology
editorial board! I’m also excited to be the one of the first PharmD’s to be appointed during the journals 35 year history! Thank you
@Gnfidz
!
I personally don’t like wearing a white coat. However my husband told me that it was important for me to wear my white coat while participating in the vaccination clinics. Well last Friday, a community volunteer at clinic ran up to me and said “I want a pic with the Black doc”
In 2017, I interviewed for 22 post PGY-1 programs, I received on-site interviews for 3 and 2 of them had no intention of selecting me for training.
@IDpharmresearch
had filled all his spots but created a place for me. Thank you boss man for everything. ❤️
We had a patient come to our mobile community clinic today who brought their immobile 80 year old neighborhood who is unable to travel to the mass vaccination clinics. The woman cried because she never thought she would have access to the vaccine. Equity is a necessity.
Word on the street has it that
@lululemon
doesn’t recognize pharmacists as first responders. Which strikes me as alarming since pharmacists are on the ground everyday providing vaccinations and education to overcome the pandemic.
To God be the Glory. Thank you
@LLUHealth
@LLUMedCenter
for being dedicated to doing the Lord's Work. Let's continue to create a more equitable tomorrow.
So I got an email (that I did not belive was real)fro
#ECCMID2021
stating that my oral platform had been selected for a press release. Welp, here we are in the Daily mail UK. Proud to spread the wonderful work of
@COPE2000

I feel like I'm in an alternate universe right now, but I was recently interviewed by the US News and World Reporter about our vaccination efforts! Proud to represent Pharmacists on the frontlines.
I just added the following to my manuscript draft, "J.A.M. receives support from the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health & Human Development (NICHD) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) under Award Number K12HD113189."

I typically don’t share publications, but I’m super proud of this one. This was my first PK/PD project during my fellowship, and my first true introduction to in-vitro research. Major Thank You to the squad.

Congratulations to Jacinda Abdul-Mutakabbir, PharmD, MPH (

Today is one of the best days that I have ever had as a clinician. At the mobile vaccination clinic that we had in an African American community we vaccinated 429 Black people
Also excited to have received my first 75k seed Grant for the lab!! Exploring Acinetobacter baumannii mechanisms of resistance to novel polymyxin derivatives!
My students gave me this year's "Super Woman" Brick Award (student superlative award). I'm so honored and blessed that students validate me every chance that they get. Truly means the world to me.
I missed our actual anniversary, so I want to wish my best friend
@MrBlkfx1
a happy four year anniversary!!! I’m so happy to continue to do life with you.
I’m thrilled to share that I’m a member of CVS Health’s new National Health Equity Advisory Board. As a member I will work to help in creating meaningful change for historically marginalized communities.

Also, here’s a video of me representing for pharmacists at the frontlines of this pandemic! IM PROUD TO BE A PHARMACIST, AND I AM EVEN MORE PROUD OF OUR HARD WORK AND DEDICATION!

Today was so surreal. Growing up in the Black church, I could have never imagined spending an hour in the pulpit OR that a pastor would be so invested in health literacy to provide me with the opportunity to do so. We are officially expanding our reach!
@COPE2000
!
I could see the pride in her eyes, and she sent the picture to her mother because she was so proud to see a Black woman in a white coat. Someone that looked just like her. Representation matters.
The LLUSP students awarded me the “Golden Brick Award” which I have come to learn is their version of “teacher of the year” and I have been on cloud 9 all day.
Of all of the awards that I will ever and have ever received this one will forever mean the most to me. It has been an honor to work with or faith leaders of
@iecaacpastors
and
@COPE2000
to show the balance between faith and science.
Well, in post fellowship plans, news (weird sentence alert). I’m very happy to announce that on August 3,2020 I will be joining the Loma Linda University School of Pharmacy as an Assistant Professor! I’m transitioning into the critical care-ID arena, advice welcomed!
Being apart of the keynote panel for the second session of the
@pharmacists
2023 annual meetings wasn’t on my bingo card for this year, but that’s why God is in charge! Thanking him in advance for what I know will be a great time ❤️
Mentorship, friendship, and sponsorship in its truest form. These women literally sponsor me DAILY. Continually mentioning my name in places it has no business in. You two mean so much to me.
@taliaswartz
@DrJRMarcelin
@madison_salam
My friend, you have to ignore the negative and know that in the grand scheme and especially social media people love to flaunt ignorance. At the end of the day, you know and we know our value and we don’t need ANYONE to validate that. Continue to be great.
I emailed
@wearfigs
a month ago in response to pharmacists not being included as ambassadors for their brand. I hope that they are working to change this, or I’m sure pharmacists will work harder in divesting from the brand.
The NIH website has me listed as 'Dr. JAM", so it's safe to say, the nickname is forever. I'm heading into Tina Turner territory at this point LOL
#IYKYK
Excited to be speaking at the 2023
@pharmacists
meeting where I will be providing COVID-19 updates and will be apart of the second keynote panel where I will talk with others on the role of pharmacists in addressing SDOH.
Second dose Moderna clinic today in the High Desert!! We had only 7/258 not show up!! A 97% SUCCESS RATE!!! we also have a total of 40 + first doses! Happy to be the lead pharmacist for this important work! This is Equity!
One thing about the community partners, they are always going to lace me up with some fire pics! LOL thank you. Shout out to El SOL, our Hispanic/Latino partners!
This week I served as the lead PharmD for a mobile clinic, and the co-Lead PharmD for a pop-up clinic. We delivered 1407 doses to majority elderly, disabled, Black, and LatinX individuals. Let’s change the narrative. Let’s promote equity.
Absolute TRASH take from the
@AmerMedicalAssn
arguing that we should restrict prescribing life saving

to physicians only.
25% of Americans don’t have a PCP.
Leave it to them to act in self interest at the expense of equitable access.
Sending love and good vibes to all of the students entering PPS today, you are enough. Whether you are successful during the residency/ fellowship process or not, you will graduate with a DOCTORATE degree, and that in itself is worthy of celebration
In Vitro Antibacterial Activity of Cefiderocol against Multidrug-Resistant Acinetobacter baumannii
Excited to share my first research publication with my favorite drug!!!
I have to congratulate my forever Co-PI and big sister
@bpeteet
on our first RO1 submission being scored!!! With less than 1% of NIH funding being awarded to Black women PIs, I'm in shock that our application was discussed. The three months of no sleep is paying off LOL
You know, I struggled with whether I should share this moment that I had at a recent conference with my followers, but I know a lot of students follow me so I wanted to hopefully help someone else.
What an honor it was for me to be able to have a public conversation about COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy in the Black community with other Black women ID pharmacists, that I have the pleasure of calling my sisters. Also proud to have had this conversation with over 250 participants
Graduating from a doctorate program is no easy feat, so irrespective of how postgraduate plans align, you made it. REJOICE in that. There is more than one path to happiness.
We are not talking about how we got TWO Black women PharmDs in top university provost, and president positions.
@HURxDean
and Dr. Marie Chisolm-Burns, thank you two for being the representation that we need. I'm honored to be a witness, and can only hope to follow.
They say never meet your heroes but I get to call mine my lifelong mentor. So thankful to have trained with my own version of Beyonce. It is an honor to be the 45th fellow of the Rybak Lab.
After three very hard months of co-course coordinating ID, and course coordinating Renal and Respiratory I have taught my FINAL lecture of the quarter 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
Again, I am 31 years old and was diagnosed with hypertension at 25. I have been hospitalized more than once due to my high blood pressure. This is reality.
Black women who experienced racism in job, housing & police interactions had a higher chance of stroke c/w other BW. They were also more likely to live in high socioeconomic status areas, have higher education levels, and less likely to live in the South.
We had our second dose Moderna clinic in a primarily Black population today. In our first dose clinic we vaccinated 253 individuals, we had only 17 people not return for their second appointment, giving us a 93% return rate. BETTER THAN THE NATIONAL AVERAGE.

It was great to join the

I'm inspired by my brother
@PharmD_intheED
, so I want to share a bit about my journey to becoming a PharmD. When I was in high school, I told one of my teachers that I wanted to become a pharmacologist. See, I was one of those kids in high school that never quite fit in.
It looks like I'm braving Boston in the dead of winter. A visit to Tufts was just too good to pass up. Thank you for the invite

What I will do is urge residency applicants to not let a bad interview define them. You will not connect with every RPD, and that’s okay. Trust yourself, and remember that there are multiple pathways to success.
Y’all are going to hate me for the nest four years. Please know it. I will be starting every intro with “I went to THE Howard University, Home of the Madame Vice President, Kamala Harris”
#BidenHarris
When this is over, WE WILL talk about how Black people, in these urban, neglected regions SAVED and HONORED our democracy. Please know I will be writing about this. We will NEVER forget this moment in history. Not if I have ONE thing to say about it.
“In my training and career across seven institutions…I have only been taught by three Black professors. It would have made such a difference to have seen more faculty who looked like me. I hope I can make that difference for future students.”
There are few better things than being able to send a photo of my profile on the front page of the
@UCSD
newsletter to my parents. So thankful.
Also, I think I'll keep Dr. Disparity Destroyer, has a nice ring to it! LOL!
@UCSDSkaggsSOP
shoutout to my
@PharmGradWish
fam for not only all of their love, support, sponsorship, and mentorship but for our THIRD accepted publication, and the first in a Lancet journal. Can't wait to share it!
I’m not having the best day today but my husband
@MrBlkfx1
surprised me with this after vaccine clinic. He’s literally the best, and honestly I’m so grateful for his love and support.
Exciting to begin my birthday (2-week celebration) as a guideline author. Mentally I'm sipping a nice cocktail, in reality I'm procrastinating manuscript edits LOL
So excited for this session!! Presenting at IDweek was always a "big reach" dream for me, and I'm so happy to see it come to fruition. Presenting alongside AMAZING clinicians is the cherry on top!

for internationally showcasing our work. Honored to be one of two American presenters, the only PharmD, and the only Black presenter in my session.
So honored to have received to have received this award from a university and a city that has given me more than I could ever give back. As a Black girl growing up in Detroit , I never would have imagined this for my life. Thank you to my sister

for seeing me.

Let me tell y'all this. Being a Black woman in pharmacy and medicine is hard. This is not known, we know this when we step into it, but my goodness. It is honestly something I cannot put into words. The mental blows that we take, I have times where I can PHYSICALLY feel them.
