@iloveidpol Judges themselves came out to say they could not necessarily rule effectively in such cases. Was it wrong to listen to them?

@iloveidpol Weren't opponents saying the High Court judge would just be a "rubber stamp" and offer no real safeguard? Wouldn't a panel of people trained in such matters be a better safeguard? Is it even worth me asking the question of someone ideologically opposed?

@juliefr88667164 @NathanielD93744 Some judges argued they were not best placed to determine such cases effectively. Transitioning to a more dedicated specialised panel, trained in issues such as coercion, seems to be more workable and offer a better safeguards.

@iloveidpol Are you demanding their position be immutable, or are they allowed to consider amendments which make the bill workable?

@historykev @dignityindying Moratorium, i.e. they're pausing executions but don't have the will to remove it from the books because at some point it's likely they'll want to do it again.

@ddhitchens Limiting to terminal illnesses was seen by @kimleadbeater as a necessary safeguard due to concerns raised by some disabled people.

@ProfMarkTaubert Hmm? There is a residency clause, and it also only applies to terminally ill.

@thatdunleavy @thelizcarr @TheNotDeadYetUK @careorguk I asked a question, that's all. Take it however you want, I never demanded anyone to stop fundraising.

@thatdunleavy @thelizcarr @TheNotDeadYetUK @careorguk When did I say I object to other people having an opinion?

@thatdunleavy @thelizcarr @TheNotDeadYetUK @careorguk Fundraising from Christian lobby groups has been quite successful for NDY in the past, perhaps they should look to them again if "secular" funding isn't going so well for them.

@thatdunleavy @thelizcarr @TheNotDeadYetUK @careorguk Another explanation is that the majority of people, disabled or otherwise, simply don't agree with what @TheNotDeadYetUK are saying, and would not donate as a result. But crack on with "ableist" rant, if it makes *you* feel more important.

@kesleeman Well, some opponents are arguing for extensions disingenuously, I would hope you don't fall into that category.

@GrimDay70 @thelizcarr I was talking of the choice of having access to a peaceful method involving drugs rather than the traumatic and undignified methods of suicide which currently exist.
