@SarahMackAttack jelly proteins! extracellular matrix carbohydrates and proteins that form gels (like gelatin is a protein that gels). mesoglea is the scientific term for the stuff in jellies and corals. also! the "ZP" proteins are related to human jelly proteins in the eyes and zona pellucida 🪼

@amyxlu ready for prime-time. It needs more scale and validation but it's close. And I'm excited about DNA language models because like protein structure you have a compressed latent space and gobs of training data, and they should work well across species

@DdelAlamo cool question! we made this tool to interpret the AFDB and ask questions exactly like this! my bet is that conditions where things live do not prohibit certain folds evolutionary history makes things a lot murkier and a big goal is to separate out functional differences
