Nobody cared that Blacks were selling drugs to other Blacks. It helped to devalue those area so they could be privatized. Once the opioid epidemic reached the burbs and the gun violence in urban areas extended outside of the ghetto areas, then politicians took notice.

Lived in Chicago my entire life, and know that corner well. At 2am, VERY few people are walking that block. Nothing but 2 million dollars high rises near the lake, and the wind is CUTTING at 2am in winter. Also, that area’s pretty liberal, you’d never see Trump hat.
