I've secretly designed and/or developed 10+ apps in the past 2.5 years since I shut down the first app that I built. Most of the work was hidden away behind legal jargon that prevents me from sharing publicly. But the experience taught me 3 things:
1. Everyone has ideas, few
I've lived in multiple luxe buildings yet all of them have terrible software, like 1990's type stuff. There's a big opportunity to rethink building management software to match the level of luxury that you pay for in a nice building.
Exciting news: I've joined the amazing team at
@titanvest
on their mission provide hedge fund style money management to everyday investors. With my degree in finance, experience building 10+ consumer apps, and Titan's ambitious vision, this opportunity feels like a perfect fit.
I love the clean and open feel of app screens with search bars at the bottom. The layout is more thumb-friendly and does away with the cramped, boxed-in feel you get from screens with fixed headers + fixed bottom nav bars.
I built a GPT that specializes in SwiftUI motion so every app can feel like Airbnb, Robinhood, or Honk. The GPT is trained on product videos and websites from various apps that have amazing animations. This needs more refinement but it's a nice start:
@nickfloats
Midjourney + Magnific
Prompt: hyperrealistic ultra HD glossy porcelain python snake, all white body with a blue willow pattern, all white background, high detail --s 500 --v 6.0
I was curious how well GPT-4 could code so I spent a weekend building an iOS app that plans your days or trips using AI to recommend activities based on your interests.
Within 10 hours I had a fully-functional app with ~80% of the code written by GPT-4.
Should I release it?
Dozens of collaborators worked intensely to craft the new rewards program at Slice, which is now live for millions of pizza lovers across the US!
I led the design throughout the project which evolved into the most important product release that we've had a while. We're only on
I'm honored to be mentioned on a case study for
@contra
. The product is phenomenal & the team is so fast! I gave them some feedback one afternoon and the problem was fixed that evening.
In the past 5 years I’ve…
- read 96 books
- designed/developed 11 products
- traveled to 23 counties
- doubled my income 4 times
But nothing is ever enough. I’m always happy but never satisfied. Ambition is a blessing and a curse.
I regularly use Google Maps to discover food near me & according to dozens of user interviews, so do a lot of other people. We took that insight and created a dynamic discovery experience on Slice with a map, list, and search + sort & filters for each surface.
Science converts information into knowledge
Engineering converts knowledge into utility
Design converts utility into cultural behavior and context
Art takes that context and questions our perception of the world
Today marks the official launch of
@joinLava
! Such an exciting time for the team. Give it go & let us know what you think by leaving a review on the app store!
@chrismartz
This is actually a super great interaction. Previously the action was binary (like/unlike) and now it’s dynamic. Tap once to like and tap twice to add to a playlist or unlike the song.
I didn’t like the change at first but now I love it because you can easily build playlists.
New Website Inspiration:
Lovely touch adding a sticky header QR code that expands to scan in this
@joinLava
Landing Page.
A few more shouts to the parallax scrolling devices, the hovering AirPods & the consistent colorful gradient border aesthetic.

2021 was the year when I taught myself how to design and build apps by creating my own (

)
2022 was the year when I worked with many teams to design, build, and launch 6+ apps
Progress is one of the best feelings to experience 💯
Let's be honest, no one swipes though carousel guides... so we stole the stories format to walk users through our new loyalty program
Thank you insta & snap for the inspiration ;)
