@brawadis
Sorry to hear that man that’s awful. I’m just glad you found out before making such a serious commitment with her. Everything happens for a reason and it’s clear someone better for you is out there. Keep your head up and go Suns!
Jones is playing the best hockey of his career since Troubs injury. Lavi has a tough decision to make when he’s able to return. However there’s no doubt now even after adding Ruhwedel, Jones is still the 7D. Also can comfortably be 3LD next season. Glad we didn’t move him.
#NYR
Not sure what it would take (I’m sure a lot) but a Vatrano/Henrique package makes a lot of sense. Frank takes his spot with 20/93 and Henrique fills the 3C hole for the rest of this season. Then next season hopefully Fil can be the 3C again plus you still have Frank.
#NYR
Wow Lavi continues to impress me. Seems every coach has their favorite they refuse to sit even if they should. I truly thought for Lavi it was gonna be Bonino. Great to see him sit a favorite like that for Pitlick who has been better on that 4th line with Goody and Vesey.
#NYR
Overall happy with
@emilymkaplan
update regarding the Rangers deadline plans:
1. Want to add a C and RW
2. Will only use their 1st round pick in the right deal
3. Perreault and Othmann are off limits
#NYR
Overall I’m pleased with what the Rangers did this deadline. They address their needs at RW, C and D with solid players without giving up their 1st or prospects. I know it’s not an exciting haul but it reminds me of the 22 year. Come playoffs up to top players to lead way.
#NYR
Rangers have a great start to the season, hit an inevitable speed bump as any team does in a long season and now everyone wants to panic and be cynical in December? Sheesh this isn’t last season when Troubs had to throw his helmet to save the season.
#NYR
If someone told me we would start the playoffs 7-1 I would take it. The Rangers did what they needed to do and took a game in Carolina. Would have been nice but hard to believe the Canes getting swept. Let’s make sure we’re ready to take care of business at home in Game 5.
#NYR
After sleeping on it I’m cautiously optimistic. While it wasn’t a great time for a stinker it was clearly their worst game of the playoffs (Game 4 they played well enough to win). If this is truly the team we saw all year then they can respond the right way and get it done.
#NYR
Wow looks like Rempe will be the guy going into the lineup for Wheels. Good for him an outdoor game is some way to make your NHL debut. Will be fun to see him and Eddy on the same line with Goody. Could this be the beginning of our own bash brothers?
#NYR
NHL teams have to climb their way to the top, no matter who they have to tread on. So Wennberg is just the start in New York, not the finish.
In the city that never sleeps, a lot can happen in one night.
Xoxo.
So impressive to think the Rangers possibly played their best game on the 5th game of a 7 day stretch. Nice to see them get contributions throughout the lineup especially from the bottom six. Now let’s hope Lindy isn’t seriously hurt. Good thing we added Ruhwedel though.
#NYR
Well the Rangers now know their first round opponent with the Washington Capitals clinching the final wild card spot. Honestly is it really a Rangers playoff run if they don’t at least play the Caps or Pens?
#NYR
@LouieBellina
@PeterFegan8
I will say if the Rangers were playing like this last season Jaro wouldn’t have lost his first 6 games. He wasn’t that bad plus had no offensive support and no where close to the defensive play. That being said I agree Drury did a good job improving depth with limited cap space
Glad the Rangers won and found a way to get the extra point but this feels like a step back from the Aves/Tampa wins. Team has to stop playing to the level of their competition. On a positive note nice to see the 3rd line score, Mika get a big goal and Igor get a win.
#NYR
@LouieBellina
Assuming you can get both for 1st/Othmann while Guentzel is the better playoff performer it’s prob only for this season. Whereas with Buch it’s 2 seasons and I feel like if anyone can boost 20/93 it’s him. Just hope we end up with one of them
I gotta say I never understood the Lavi hate. I get people want the fresh face and a “retread” that is on his 6th team doesn’t look great on the surface. However this is a guy who won a Stanley Cup and took two other teams to the final. Wherever he goes teams have success.
#NYR
Wasn’t looking good early on but credit the Rangers for battling back to get a much needed win. After a rough start himself Igor stood tall the rest of the game. The power play comes up big with 2 goals. Great game from the 3rd line as well especially Cuylle.
#NYR
I’ve seen this comment recently and I told my buddy this yesterday. I’d sacrifice the other 9 championships to ensure this Rangers team wins the cup. I want to see this team win so bad.
#NYR
You have 5 Championships to spread across your teams over the next 10 years. How would you split them up?
Example:
#NYR
: 2
#NewYorkForever
: 1
#NYGiants
: 1
#RepBX
: 1
NYR, will always come 1st for me. Then I need a Knicks win. I’ve seen the Giants and Yanks win multiple times.
@realdavidgold
While I wish he would contribute a bit make offensively the guy makes all the little plays that help your team win a hockey game. Need those guys also
Say what you want about the potential missed calls in OT but it shouldn’t have gotten to that point. You’re up 2-0 to the worst team in the league and blow it. PP had plenty of chances to build or retake the league and couldn’t muster anything. Bad loss to end a rough trip.
#NYR
Another solid win for the Rangers against a desperate Red Wings team. Think tonight showed the bottom six is best with Cuylle on the 3rd line. Also Jonny made a strong case on the 4th line. Goody with 2 big goals. The top guys get it done on the PP in the 3rd period.
#NYR
Nice bounce back win for the Rangers. Wasn’t the best 1st period but huge credit to Quick for keeping us in it. Also is now tied for most wins by U.S born goalies. Another strong game for Bread getting the hat trick. Also a big goal by Foxy to put us up for good.
#NYR
Glad the Rangers found a way to win and take that commanding 3-0 series lead. Igor and the PK were sensational and the PP gets a huge goal. That being said the Rangers need to be more disciplined. While the PK has been great we can’t be taking 7 penalties in a game.
#NYR
Well I feel better about not getting Guentzel. Rangers made their best offer and Pens just didn’t want to deal with them. Nothing you can do about that. Don’t need to give all that up for a rental anyway.
#NYR
I mean looking at that return think it’s pretty clear they just didn’t want to trade Guentzel to the Rangers. If nothing else pretty sure Drury offers the first no strings attached and possibly Othmann. Said they wanted quality over quantity but actions didn’t show that.
#NYR
Wow Pitlick on waivers now. Thought he was a fine 4th liner not bad but not great either. Figure he was someone on the outside looking in of a playoff roster. Seems to indicate Eddy is here to stay as a bottom six guy well deserved. Question is who will be 13F now?
#NYR
This. Gus and Troubs can’t play together. Would be nice to see Jones get a chance but unless someone can’t play I don’t see that happening. My question is does it make more sense to split up 79 and 4 or 55 and 23?
#NYR
I have a hot take. This isn’t that bad.
56-8 have been an absolute dumpster fire. You can shelter them all you want; when they’re on the ice, they get caved in and give up goals (literally all of the goals).
Going on the road, that pair will be EXPLOITED to put it mildly.
#NYR
@LouieBellina
Jones playing the best hockey of his career. I feel more comfortable if Gus moves on having Jones step into his spot next season. Glad we didn’t move him
While the Rangers need to clean up defensively this was a fun win. Congrats to Quick on becoming the winningest U.S. goaltender. Awesome team celebration at the end. Also congrats to Kreids on 300 goals. Thought the first should have counted. Plus Laf’s first ever 🎩 trick!
#NYR
Definitely a disappointing performance tonight from the Rangers knowing the opportunity they just blew. However they are still up and have an opportunity to end the series in Carolina. In order to do that though the Rangers top players and PP must be better in Game 6.
#NYR
Regarding Lindy extension: while I understand the concern with this being another G/Staal situation I do see one small but possibly big difference. G/Staal signed their big deals at the ages of 28/29. Lindy is still only 26. Even a 5 year deal barely enters his 30s.
#NYR
Nice bounce back win for the Rangers. I thought Laf was the best player on the ice tonight. He just stood out every shift. Bread and Vinny solid as well. The new Cuylle-Goody-Vesey line gets a goal. Even Otter didn’t look out of place. Cool he had some shifts with 20 and 93.
#NYR
Great win by the Rangers to start the series. Had concerns they could be rusty from the time off but they came out and had a solid 1st period. Special teams will be important and they won them today. Also great to see Mika, Troch and Bread lead the way. Defended well also.
#NYR
Congrats to Bread on winning Team MVP and Quick the Players Player Award well deserved! Bread has had one of the best individual seasons in Rangers history since Jagr. As for Quick he’s been such an amazing teammate on and off the ice in the backup role.
#NYR
Awesome to see Mika be named the 2nd star of the week. After a slow start to the season he has really come on of late. Not only on the PP but his line with Kreids and Wheels is picking up the slack at 5 v 5. No doubt though for that line to succeed Mika has to drive the bus.
#NYR
Not surprised Kane wanted to return to the Rangers. That’s where he wanted to be last season and the team is off to a strong start. I credit Drury for not risking it again after it didn’t work out last season.
#NYR
For the Steven McDonald Award you can look at 16 who has stepped up admirably into the 2C role since 72 injury. 32 who after a rough preseason has helped keep the team afloat through Igor’s up and downs. Or 50 who as a rookie has become such an important part of this team.
#NYR
@JLazzy23
@PeterFegan8
That line is rolling and right now if Troch continues to play well there tough go see Fil taking back his spot. That being said a 50-72-24 line could be a fun “kid line 2.0” 3rd unit
The past couple nights show the 4th win is the hardest to get. The Rangers sweep of the Caps shouldn’t be taken lightly. Also not surprised a team like the Canes aren’t going down without a fight. They have to give themselves a chance to win tomorrow like they did in Game 4.
#NYR
Happy the Rangers won, clinched a playoff spot and got Lavi his 800th win. However this team has to be ready at that start of games and also need to get back to the tight 3rd period they played against the Panthers. Mika and Laf were great though and Bread gets 100 points.
#NYR
The thought process should be to find the next Vatrano not pay a bunch more to bring him back. To me Duclair has some similarities to Vatrano. Speed and skill. Could see him playing a similar role with 20/93 for less than Vatrano now.
#NYR
Now the Rangers can actually get some rest and see who they play next instead of going through a grueling 7 game series early. I will say whoever they end up playing in the 2nd round the Rangers will have to step it up. As is expected the further you go.
#NYR
Well at least based on Vally’s stats the team played a much better defensive game. Unfortunately the offense just isn’t there right now. To me that won’t last but can hopefully build on the defensive effort. Like
@RobCelletti
said besides the 1st it was a competitive loss.
#NYR
While yesterday was more annoying than anything because they had a chance to win and silly mistakes cost them that’s also a reason to be encouraged. The Rangers were a goal Igor usually saves away from possibly beating Florida. They showed they can hang with the East beasts.
#NYR
Well it appears Cuylle will in fact play tonight and likely return to his spot on the 3rd line with 91/24 with Rempe on the 4th with 26/21. I’m glad to see this I believe as long as Rempe doesn’t cross the line these are the Rangers best 4 lines come the playoffs.
#NYR
I’m not worried about Cuylle he will be in the playoff lineup. However I think Lavi needs to break up the checking unit as the Rangers best 3rd line consists of 50-91-24. As for the 4th line still like the idea of 26-21-73 or Eddy. Jonny is just fine as the 13F in this case.
#NYR
Not as crisp as Game 1 but the Rangers find a way to win Game 2 and defend home ice. Great games from Mika and Troch. Rosy and Key come up with big goals. Special teams were huge in this one. Now the Rangers have to keep it going in Washington.
#NYR
Despite Vesey looking good on the top line and Jones continuing his strong play it appears Rosy/Gus are back in their usual spots. Thought Rempe could stay in for a potential physical game on the island. However considering his min yesterday looks like Jonny starts Game 1.
#NYR
I remember not wanting Cuylle to play top six RW to start the season considering he’s barely played that side before. However this is a kid who has succeeded in every role he’s been given. Also considering our lack of options there he’s certainly earned a shot in that spot.
#NYR
Wow I’m stunned to hear the Rangers are waiving Bones. While certainly not an easy decision for the organization it is the right one as he just doesn’t have much left in the tank. We should still appreciate his time here though blocking shots and helping with faceoffs.
#NYR
Funny this comes up as
@mikazibanejads
and I were were just discussing yesterday whether the Rangers felt Sykora would be better off staying in Hartford or joining Team Slovakia. Looks like the Rangers want him to go compete in the World Juniors.
#NYR
Aktualizovaná súpiska Slovenska na
#WorldJuniors
. K tímu sa pripoja Adam Sýkora (
#NYR
) a Marián Moško, vypadol brankár Šichabutin Gadžiev.
Dvoch hráčov ešte vyradia a traja budú vo Švédsku zdraví náhradníci, ak by sa niekto z 23-členného kádra zranil.
@HockeySlovakia
Wow just wow. After giving up a late tying goal which is killer the Rangers come out and get it done quick in OT to take a commanding 3-0 series lead. The Breadman and Laf connecting for two big goals. Kreids and Mika with the shorty. Igor was great again.
#NYR
@LouieBellina
This is tough to say but Bonino. Can’t break up the Vesey-Goodrow-Pitlick line the way they have played since being put together. I also want to see if Cuylle-Chytil-Kakko could be Kid Line 2.0. Like you said good problem to have though if he’s our 13F
This tells me Drury just might not have a desire to use his 1st/top prospects in this market which I can’t fully blame him. Prob looking at a 2nd and prospect for a center (Wennberg?) and even less for a wing (Duclair?). However Drury is so tight lipped is this even true?
#NYR
Friedman on NYR/Guentzel (TJMS): “They can definitely do it, there’s no question about that. The only thing that I can say about that is that the Rangers may be more interested in spending their biggest assets on a centre”
With the Rangers likely adding that 1RW and 3C question is should they add a depth forward or dman as their 3rd piece. Think it comes down to do you need to upgrade a 12/13/14 forward group of Brod/Eddy/Rempe or a 6/7/8 dman group of Gus/Jones/Mackey? Think I lean defense.
#NYR
I fully understand wanting to be cautious about what to give Lindy on his next deal. However what I don’t understand is the willingness to just send him packing considering his importance to the team on and off the ice. If the price is right you have to try hard to keep him.
#NYR
Drury does tend to make one move ahead of the deadline (Vatrano 22, Tarasenko/Mikkola 23). Assuming he is making at least two moves wouldn’t surprise me to see one this coming week and the other next week closer to deadline day.
#NYR
Only caught the end of the game but another nice comeback win for the Rangers against a team like the Aves in their building. Igor was sensational especially in the OT. Nice goals by Bread and Troch in the shootout. Also great to see Kakko get a big goal in the 3rd.
#NYR
Not surprised they called Eddy up. They are missing Rempe and his physical presence. As for the defense while it makes sense to get Ruhwedel in back in Pittsburgh, who comes out?
#NYR
@BaldPanarin
I say handle it similar to Drury. They denied everyone from speaking to him cause they had every intention to make him the next GM. If they feel the same about Peca then do the same. If not don’t deny him the chance elsewhere if he won’t get it here
Wow so proud of this team tonight what a game. When they were down they battled back. When they had to kill a penalty with the game on the line twice they got it done. Then when the PP had the chance to end it Troch and the guys capitalized. Also what a game from Laffy.
#NYR
Wasn’t pretty but Rangers gut out the win against a hard working Flyers team. Igor with another solid performance. Laf continues to play well and score a big goal. What a day for Rempe with another heavy weight fight and a game winning first NHL goal.
#NYR
What a feeling to walk out of TD Garden with the W. Best part was seeing both Igor and the defensive play look much better to keep it close throughout. Vinny Troch comes up clutch with the PP goal to tie it and the game winner in OT. Much needed bounce back weekend.
#NYR
@Zibanejesus
If Kakko can fill one you already have Laf to fill the other. Then a top six wing isn’t as big a need. However it seems center and defensive depth might be necessary
Good to hear Lindy is skating already. Just need him ready to play a couple games prior to the playoffs. As for Cuylle sitting while I understand wanting him in against Florida I’m glad Lavi is looking to rest guys during this ending grind of a schedule.
#NYR
So proud of this team you gotta give them a ton of credit. Now much of it wasn’t pretty hockey and there is certainly plenty this team still needs to work on. However for them to find a way time and time again to win all 5 games is impressive. Would have been happy with 3.
#NYR
@nyrangersmuse
I’d still say Rick Nash. I know he wasn’t the player we all hoped we were getting. However he was still a good Ranger who played a strong 200 foot game
Great win for the Rangers. Huge props to the PK for killing that 5 min major to start the game. Could have been a very different result if not for that. Shame Igor didn’t get the shutout but at least he wasn’t too busy and had a sweet assist. Laf with a solid 2 goal game.
#NYR
Great bounce back win for the Rangers. Awesome performance from Quickie making big saves at the start and end of the game to get the shutout. Laf with a sweet backhand game winning goal. Also great to see Mika and his line look better tonight. Hopefully can build on it.
#NYR
I will say the last time the Rangers made a mysterious callup with Jake, Bones tenure with the Rangers ended. Both were centers. Now with Eddy and Rempe called up both are RWs. Could Wheels who doesn’t seem to have a playoff spot either be the next vet on the way out?
#NYR
@Suns_Armband
@Suns
I’d still start Allen over O’Neale but play Royce more depending on the matchup. This doesn’t even include Okogie. Much better depth than pre deadline. Excited to see what Roddy can add
@Zibanejesus
As a lot of people say on here that nevermind from Ray who secretly was hoping canes could stage a comeback and in that moment knew it wasn’t happening fed some families
According to Dave Rangers willing to part with Kakko and 1st for Guentzel. In this scenario I’d be willing to include any prospects besides Perreault/Othmann to get it done.
#NYR
@Mcbearcat7557
Feels like all of Buchnevich, Duclair, Hayes, Kane, Tarasenko, Vatrano and Zuccarello have been linked to them at one point or another. Wouldn’t surprise me if one of them becomes a Ranger again
On defense while it’s unfortunate Jones is the odd man out the way he’s played I understand Lavi wanting to go with the 6 guys used the majority of the season. However right now 79-4 and 56-8 should be together. Also if someone continues to struggle give Jones a chance.
#NYR
