I'm enjoying Forbidden West but it's just so traditional for an open world RPG. Go to icon. Do mission. Repeat.
If Elden Ring is anything more than traditional in its structure (in a good way), feels like it's going to quickly overshadow HFW, much like BotW did to Zero Dawn.

I'm excited for Oxenfree II: Lost Signals--the idea of a "coming of age" story starring a woman in her 30s seems cool. Too often, stories treat high school age as the defining moment in people's lives, and that's just not a true reflection of reality.

The amount of care that Respawn regularly puts into the creation of each legend is always so incredible. Learning about how so many different departments contribute to every character remains my favorite part of getting a new season of Apex Legends.

For what it's worth, I make $70k/yr after being promoted from Associate Editor where I made $61k/yr. So negotiate up!

I think the one thing in HFW's favor is that ER probs won't be as approachable a game as BotW, meaning less people may be as obsessed with it and will return to HFW sooner than they did with HZD.

Looks like The Entropy Centre is getting solid reviews! This is one of my top 3 most anticipated games for 2022, so I'm pleased it looks like it has top 10 potential.
Game is Portal-like but with time puzzles, not just spacial puzzles.

Really appreciate that Halo Infinite will allow you to progress through old battle passes. Such a good way of respecting the player's time (we can't all play a live service game every day). Kinda hope other devs adopt this model too--I would love this for Apex Legends.

I can't express how badly Tales of the Jedi Ep 6 "Resolve" adapts E. K. Johnston's Ahsoka novel, skipping most of Ahsoka's best development and erasing Kaeden Larte, a queer woman of color.
The rest of the show is great but Resolve really hurts to watch. Read the book instead.

At GameSpot? Nah. Not even close. Individual folks had Celeste, Into the Breach, Devotion, Disco Elysium, Hades, and Ikenfell as their GOTY these past few years. But not enough of us regularly play non-AAA games for there to be enough concensus across the team when debating GOTY.
I’m curious: do you think we are at the point where among large publications a non-AAA game has AT LEAST an equal chance of winning Game of the Year as a big AAA title?

Yeahhhhh, this gets at the core of why I ultimately walked away from Deathloop disappointed. I like a lot of what it does but I wasn't a fan of the last 20% of the game and that just soured the experience for me.

At this point, I've put over 170 hours into Assassin's Creed Valhalla. I've enjoyed my time with the game but I'd really like for the series to move on from Eivor and Havi at this point. Dawn of Ragnarök feels like it's retreading old ground.
Dawn of Ragnarök doesn't tell a compelling story, but its introduction of god-like powers creates new avenues for how players can explore and fight in Assassin's Creed Valhalla.

*rubs temple* I just feel like Infinity might be the wrong direction for Assassin's Creed. The word "Infinity" sounds like "we need to go bigger, forever" and I'd hoped that Ubi had learned the opposite lesson from Valhalla.
