I am unfortunately learning of the passing of former lead weather anchor at KOMO, Steve Pool. In 2017, I had the privilege of interning under the tutelage of Steve. He taught me so much about being a broadcast met. He touched the lives of so many. We have lost a great one.

I'm visiting friends in Southern Oregon this weekend and I needed to share this stark view of what prolonged drought looks like. This is a look at Emigrant Lake just outside of Ashland. This whole area used to be a beautiful lake. It has been reduced to essentially a big puddle.

@awfulannouncing @fangsbites As a kid growing up in Washington and being a Coug fan my whole life, I always considered the Pac 10 / Pac 12 "My confrence." As a general sports fan, I watched all of these teams all the time. I am truly going to miss this confrence. College sports just won't have the same zest.

Snow fell across the area last night and early this morning. The main band of moisture is now pushing off to the east and only rain & snow showers will be in place for the remainder of the day. Temperatures will be chilly this afternoon, staying in the 30s for many of us!

If you want to take weather advice from a rodent, well today is your day! Punxsutawney Phil has made his prediction of an early spring! Although I do not endorse the forecast of groundhogs, the CPC has also forecast a good chance of above average temperatures for this month. 🌡️

I will be away tomorrow so I am posting this weekend's football forecasts today! Both Friday and Saturday will offer ideal conditions for athletes to smack pads on the gridiron! Just be mindful of periods of haze and smoke overhead with ongoing northwest wildfires. 🏈🏈

The storm system today / this evening is turning into a MUCH more significant deal than any models were originally indicating. Please exercise utmost caution on area roadways! As an aside, I sincerely apologize for providing an inaccurate forecast this morning.

Temperatures will achieve exceptionally warm values on Friday and Saturday. A few weather models even suggest the Tri-Cities could hit 90° on Saturday! With these warm temperatures, I do urge folks to practice water safety as we head into the weekend!
