(1/3) 82 years ago 🇦🇺HMAS Perth in company with 🇺🇸USS Houston encountered the Japanese invasion force IVO the Sunda Strait. After an initial battle, at about midnight Perth had little ammunition left, so Captain Waller decided to attempt to force a passage through Sunda Strait.

Australia orders two more Guardian-class patrol boats| Although it has some detractors I’m a fan of this program. Whilst the 2 additional craft are likely to just be a replacement for the boats that have already been damaged by their new operators 1/

So much more than a game. As a girl who grew up in rural Aus - had to stop cricket at 12 ‘coz girls couldn’t play hard ball - the only girl on the soccer team who was made to wear a skirt whilst playing in my early years. So practical. This represents a evolution of society.

🧵Whilst China's Premier Li Qiang was arrived in 🇦🇺 for the first 1st time in 7 years, China's new Coastguard Regulation No. 3 took effect authorising the detention of foreign vessels & individuals for “trespass” in “waters under China’s jurisdiction.
