@splendid_pete The whole point is he didn’t have explicit authority to fire the officials (it was implied) and his implied power overrode congresses law. And Trump V United States case was dropped. Do I need to cite the many articles for a third time?

@splendid_pete Lmfao no. Not what I said. You said that when implied power and law clash, law always wins. I supplied one (of many) example of the opposite happening.

@kdaw196158 @Lightless_Day @esjesjesj Which is my main point. Not whether or not Trump has the right to do the stuff he’s doing, that’ll be decided in the courts. My main point is that all the pearl clutching that he’s seizing power and this is the end of democracy is retarded.

@splendid_pete That’s an incredibly generalized way of looking at it and no, in fact, there have been cases where a presidents implied power overruled a law passed by Congress Just one example of this would be Myers v United States (1926)

@kdaw196158 @Lightless_Day @esjesjesj lol my guy he literally wasn’t that’s why Congress passed the CBICA in 1974. They did it *specifically because* they couldn’t stop what Nixon was doing at the time. It’s okay to have no idea what you are talking about, just be quieter and maybe you’ll learn.

@splendid_pete I already answered this question, and rejected your premise that A) the president somehow doesn’t have access to the data at his own executive agencies B) that Trump is giving DOGE unfettered full access to anything. He isn’t.

@kdaw196158 @Lightless_Day @esjesjesj That’s not backpedaling at all. I’m sorry you didn’t come to the conversation with the same common knowledge as everyone else talking about this issue, i figured it was implied. Won’t assume you are smart next time!

@kdaw196158 @Lightless_Day @esjesjesj In fact, they do not. They clarify HOW the funds can be impounded and or rescinded. Doesn’t say that it can’t be done.

@kdaw196158 @Lightless_Day @esjesjesj It wasn’t rejected. Congress passed a law clarifying the process that needed to be adhered to (which Trump is doing!) but they didn’t reject the president ability to put a hold on and or rescind funding if he/she chooses.

@splendid_pete Again I’ll ask, what’s your evidence he’s given them “unlimited access to all government data.” The EO doesn’t say that, they were given READ ONLY access. They weren’t able to copy files or make changes. Again, you woke up and saw Trump bad and went with it, reality be damned!

@kdaw196158 @Lightless_Day @esjesjesj Okay so then you also know the president had what’s called take care powers and that he had the ability to delay or completely rescind funding approved by Congress? This powers has been in the executive since Jefferson. So again, what new power is he seizing?

@splendid_pete Wait, you genially believe the president ONLY receives power from laws passed by Congress and constitution? There’s literally an entire legal debate always raging about the enumerated and non enumerated powers of the president. You can’t be this dumb

@bmore555 @adougherty1700 @adampensel @danorlovsky7 Yeah I did you just don’t like the answer. You are a casual, it’s okay. Josh had the better season both by the metrics and by the value he brought to his team compared to Lamar. Lights came on Josh played his best, lights came on Lamar had his worst game of the year.

@splendid_pete I’m not deflecting I’m citing specific statute that actually does give the president the authority you claim he doesn’t have. This is power (recission and impoundment of funds) that the executive has had since Thomas Jefferson. You are the one deflecting here lmfao. Clown.

@splendid_pete The core legal question is not the same at all. Also, the courts didn’t reject trumps argument in the classified documents case. The case was dropped before any judgements were rendered. So not sure what you are going on about.

@splendid_pete Are you under the impression that all power given to the executive is given to the executive by statute? Jesus that’s next level stupid. The presidents power is not limited to powers given to him/her by laws passed by congress. That’s retarded.

@bmore555 @adougherty1700 @adampensel @danorlovsky7 This is the most “I’m a scoreboard stat watcher” argument I’ve ever seen.
