Back to early 2000s globalization was the hottest buzzword in Indonesia. It was quite worrying for the country that just withstand 90s AFC. Ultimately we saw it as an inevitable wave so we prep accordingly.
Many who spent 24/7 moaning about neoliberalism and made it something of an ur-evil of political ideologies will end up getting a regime that is worse in many respects empowering the worst kinds of people. They will love "discipline of capital" by securitized institutional logic.

Lmao it's been 2 years since this moral panic.
China has gone into a soft form of food rationing nationwide, as UN warns of worst global food crisis in 50 yrs. Everyone from Alibaba's Jack Ma to elementary students under pressure to comply. Some restaurants switch to half-portions, others issue fines.

Cities with the Best Public Transport. Considering the volume of traffic, network density and infrastructure quality, Hong Kong has been named as the city with the best public transport services. #publictransport #transportation #citylife

Reminder that most normies (at least what I found on reddit) really hated Hu because of airpocalypse and corruptions. .
Reminder. Hu:. Averaged 10+% GDP growth. Won the Olympics. Launched China's first manned space probe. Contained SARS. Began China's high speed rail. Improved relations with Taiwan. Voluntarily gave up his titles. Yes. If I were Xi, I wouldn't want him there either.

@przidnt1 > Our goal should not be to dictate to China how it is governed, but to embolden and enable those Chinese who want change to achieve it. What's the freakin difference?.

Broke: Hu Chunhua lost Politburo seat because Xi hated him. Woke: Hu Chunhua lost Politburo seat because CYL lost influence. Bespoke: Hu Chunhua lost Politburo seat because he isn't a techbro.
Xi Jinping has packed the top ranks of the Communist Party with a new generation of leaders who have experience in aerospace, AI and other strategic areas, as Beijing seeks to become a science and technology superpower that rivals the U.S. @_KarenHao.

@PAstynome > autarky proponents. Not specifically against you but I despise it when the US want to reshore manufacturing, it's called increasing resiliency. If others do it, it's called autarky/insularity.

Mearsheimer is probably the most hawkish academician on China but he's the most platformed on Chinese media :). The magic of realism.
John Mearsheimer, in an interview with CCP media, claims thereβs βno evidenceβ of Russian imperialism in Ukraine, but sees plenty of evidence for βNATO expansionism.β

@PAstynome There's a simple explanation . US is generally a service based economy where NLP is more useful so chatgpt it is. While China is generally manufacturing based, so computer vision for product inspection is more useful. Hence dominance in Computer Vision.

@moghilemear13 This is quite similar to the "civil society" mania, they love initiatives from NGOs but easily turn to disgust when Government took notice. Example, clean plate initiatives years ago.

@PAstynome I can imagine some of those firms will trim fats or even failed. Some of the embittered management will try their luck in Govt/think tank service where they can espouse "cheating China" to their hearts content and the cycle will continue.

China already has Xiaoice bot, Alipay and WeChat pay for years before US has something comparable. Nobody doubted US capabilities based on this.
The excellent @danwwang on China, Chinese manufacturing prowess, and AI. particularly interesting marker/prediction: If no Chinese ChatGPT by end of 2023, China being better at tech implementation comes into doubt.
