New piece by me - and this time, it's a scoop!
Hard Rock Hotels is set to close down its first and only Irish operation, after the property it trades from was snapped up
I think we all have to say hats off to
@Shauns_Aviation
and
@CarlowWeather
for their incredible coverage today.
Have to appreciate that Shaun is only 16 and he’s been going at it since this morning, with constant updates on diversions and go-arounds.
Fair play!!

Ok I think I’ve solved where is going to host
#Eurovision
next year.
It’s going to be
#Glasgow
, because:
Olly Murs just announced a tour date for Liverpool on 6th May. That wouldn’t be enough time to get the Arena ready for
#Eurovision
.
That’s just a dead giveaway to me
Verrrryyyy loud boos when the floor manager informs the
#Eurovision
audience that Joost Klein will not perform tonight.
“Hopefully they’ll be back tomorrow,” he says
“I send you lots of love and light”
Excellent from
@Bambiethug
last night on the Late Late Show, where they addressed those who have labelled them a “satanist” among other things.
They really are a brilliant representative for us at
#Eurovision
👏
Possibly the strangest experience in a
#Eurovision
venue ever - boos and cheers in equal measure for/against the Israeli entry throughout the song - at least from what I heard in the arena.
2024 has just arrived!
The first places to ring in the new year are Kiribati and the Christmas Islands, which have just hit midnight!
Meanwhile, Sydney in Australia has kicked off its celebrations with the 9pm fireworks display, to give a taster of what’s to come!
#SydNYE
My current mental struggle with the
#LeavingCert
: A Thread
Look this isn’t gonna be a sob story or search for sympathy. This is how I feel at this current moment, as a 6th Year student.
London normally would have a big fireworks display at the London Eye, but since the pandemic hit, they’ve had a more at-home immersive experience at different London locations.
However, the London Eye display is back with a bang this year! 🇬🇧
📺: RTÉ confirm that an average of 416,000 people watched Ireland choose its
#Eurovision
entry in
#Eurosong
2024 on Friday night.
It had a 41% share of the Irish viewing audience.
Almost 92,000 streams on the RTÉ player, and 3.8 million views of clips from the show online.
No matter what you think of John Lydon, this is really sad news. He was his wife’s full time carer, dedicated his Eurosong entry to her, and now sadly she has passed away.
RIP Nora x
1/2 Rest in Peace Nora Forster
It is with a heavy heart that we share the sad news that Nora Forster - John Lydon's wife of nearly 5 decades - has passed away. Nora had been living with Alzheimer’s for several years. In which time John had become her full time carer.
My god
@McHughJoeTD
do something right for once will you? I’m currently going through so much stress and anxiety at home with grandparents and all, and I still have the
#LeavingCert
to worry about? A clear disadvantage to us all, compared to previous years. Shameful.
Bambie says nothing - activists call on artists to speak out
Bambie speaks out - activists say they’re saying the wrong thing
Literally damned if you do, damned if you don’t 🤷♂️
Does no one realise that these artists are literally under contracts for this now?

“…It’s the EBU who has to make the decision and unfortunately, in my eyes, they’re not making the right decision.”

@EricaCody
has performed in The George in Dublin - and the club is fully behind her in seeking to represent Ireland at this year’s
#Eurovision
!
Just one day left until
#Eurosong
!!!
I think we ALL need to give huge kudos to
@issu4u
for the outstanding work they've done in bringing
#LeavingCert2021
#LeavingCert
to this stage, to finally get clarity.
Fair play.
🇦🇺 HAPPY NEW YEAR SYDNEY 🇦🇺
Sydney has just welcomed in 2024 with a massive start to a 12-minute fireworks display along Sydney Harbour!
#SydNYE
#NYEABC
It keeps getting better for Ireland!
We are now NINTH FAVOURITE to WIN
#Eurovision
2024!!
We’ve just taken over Belgium, and remain in the 2% club!
COME ON
@BAMBIETHUG
To add to this, I’ve been told that Mustii was not aware of the official text “until last minute this morning”, and that it was too late to add his name to the official statement.
Therefore, he had to add his name after.
BREAKING: Eurosong Late Late Special will take place on January 26th!
The 6 songs which will compete to represent Ireland in
#Eurovision
will be revealed on the Ray D’Arcy Show on RTÉ Radio 1 each day next week.
One per day, but on Wednesday we’ll get two!
The amount of uncertainty is disgraceful. This is just getting too much for me. You can provide answers for every other sector of society, but you can't give US answers??? It is truly "demoralising".
#LeavingCert
Hundreds of people not just from Finglas, but from counties across Ireland, travelling here to Erin’s Isle GAA Club to pay their final respects to Christy Dignam.
@NewstalkFM
I’m telling you now, if we don’t pick
@ailshamusic
for
#Eurovision
, then what even is the point in taking part?
And also let’s start a campaign where we chant OCHT in Malmo to win our eighth win please :)
#Eurosong
Tonight, Farida has:
- Likened Kerry and Hallie’s friendship to a parent befriending their child.
- Forgotten Kerry’s name, backing up Dylan’s accusation.
- Made Kerry livid.
- Accussed housemates of ageism for nominating her for eviction.
Jesus.

@MicroGem
This is terrifying. I get that exact bus too to O’Connell Street for work, he’s driven my bus many times. I won’t be able to forget that. Bus Éireann has to do something to make sure other passengers are not subjected to this kind of horrible behaviour.
I hope you’re ok Gemma.
Don’t you just love how we find out that our
#LeavingCert
is cancelled from a leaked video? Why couldn’t politicians just be up straight with us? It’s ridiculous.
I swear if they say it’s postponed but don’t give a date, I will go M-E-N-T-A-L.
Just discovered how the
#Eurovision
2021 rehearsal voting went for one of the rehearsals!
Here’s when North Macedonia gave the wrong country the 12 points! 🇲🇰
Also it includes a moment when the tech side went bottoms up!
🧵
As emails from teachers began to start rolling in, I was set up, ready to go. I tried to think of this as a good thing. I could work by myself, and get stuff done.
Two days in, and I was already sick of it. I couldn’t concentrate, and I was already not meeting deadlines.
But students are facing losing their parents, grandparents, possibly siblings. But they are also facing the Leaving Cert, that is still due to take place in June.
The U.K., Sweden, France, Spain, Italy, and now Malta, are among the countries that have cancelled their exams.
I’m opening a book of condolences for Annalisa and her song ‘Sinceramente’.
She came an undeserved third place in
#Sanremo2024
, which I don’t think I’ll ever recover from.
Please leave your thoughts and messages below, and maybe RAI will reconsider 😭
Whether it’s by predicted grades, or postponing until a later date. They’ve taken that action. They’ve actually verbally said what they are going to do. Schools are shut for the rest of the school year there. We just need
#ClarificationNow
.
The caller thought we were making this all out to be about us. In practice, yes, because that was the topic on Liveline at the time. But in reality, this is all we knew. The Leaving Cert, and the education system as a whole, has engulfed our lives. We know nothing else but that.
We’re trying to get ours. We’re trying to get into college, get our degree, and get into whatever sector and industry that we want to get into. We all have to get through it, and yes a pandemic is going on. But did it go on during your Leaving Cert? Historically, no. It didn’t.
BREAKING: A joint letter has been published by nine
#Eurovision
artists, including Ireland’s Bambie Thug and UK’s Olly Alexander - addressing the situation in Gaza.
“In light of the current situation… we do not feel comfortable being silent.”
You may all be wondering why I’m currently writing this at nearly 1am. It’s because my mind is racing, trying to sleep. I can’t stop thinking about what could happen. The fact I’m not concentrating, the fact I’m not learning the same way other years have.
IRELAND

VIEWING FIGURES:
- 666,000 watched on RTÉ One, with 19,000 watching on the +1 channel
- 54% viewing share
- 221,000 RTÉ Player streams to date
- Almost double 2023 Final viewers (371,000) but slightly down on 2018 (690,000) when we last qualified.
Please, sign the petition, fill out the ISSU Survey. They’re all dotted around on my profile (lol that’s my H1 in Business boom.. you know... marketing).
Please tell us what’s happening.
And the bottom line is, stay safe, and stay inside.
Thanks for reading.

The picture on the left:
They’re in the final, they’re with their delegations.
The picture on the right:
They’re not in the final, they’re all alone, not with their delegations, in front of a whole arena and millions of people watching.
This isn’t entertainment.
Statement from Bambie Thug on absence from
#Eurovision
flag parade this afternoon:
“There was a situation while we were waiting to go to stage for the flag parade rehearsal which I felt needed urgent attention from the EBU.”
…
I completely agree with
@ThomasByrneTD
, as a TD in my constituency. This
#LeavingCert
is becoming all too much for students up and down the country. I don’t want to have to fear for my life as I sit for over 3 hours for my English exam.
Sorry but
@Bambiethug
on the Late Late Show just now?
An absolutely gorgeous torn down version of Doomsday Blue, with some absolutely gorgeous vocals - really bringing the feels and something different to the song!
Absolutely beautiful! 🫶
#Eurovision
Clearing my locker, truth be told I left by Geography exam papers there because I thought we’d be back soon, and also they were extremely heavy for my already heavy schoolbag. I had to make a sacrifice!
I never thought it’d come to this stage.
If we assume it’s Glasgow, and to give enough time for the stage to be constructed and rehearsals, it’ll have to be 23/25/27 May. Five weeks surely enough.
Hi everyone! So I’m delighted to tell you all that as part of my final year in my
@DCU
@DCU_SoC
Journalism course, I am creating an audio documentary on the
#Eurovision
! 🪩💃🕺🎙️
And I need your help!
🧵
On the day
@LeoVaradkar
announced the measures in Washington, I felt very mixed feelings. On one hand, I was glad because it’s going to help stop the spread of
#Covid19
. On the other hand, I was extremely worried about Orals, Geography project work, and the course generally.
At this point, I don’t care what happens. Predicted grades, postponement, even just give me 625. I don’t care once I know what is happening. At least I can have a goal to reach, if I need it. And I can try work towards it.
If I were a journalist right now, which is actually what I aspire to be, I would be asking
@McHughJoeTD
what is happening. A bland response is not good enough, it shouldn’t be good enough for anyone. I’m sick of being spoon fed. I’m a grown adult. Hit me with the facts.
As we enter another
#Eurovision
national final week, with Italy and Latvia choosing their entries, Ireland is still a fan favourite, going by a Wiwibloggs fan poll!
@Bambiethug
has just under 22% of the vote, followed by Norway with 16%!
