Thank you to all the fans who recorded the truth in the Eurovision arena so those not there could clearly see the misinformation being shared through our screens.
Several Eastern European governments:
Eurovision is western propaganda to make everyone gay
All of us: That is such a stereotype, it’s more than that!
Spain:
I didn't realise that when Tony Blair won on the 1st May 1997 that the Eurovision Song Contest was that weekend: 3rd May 1997.
So Labour unseat the Tories and then a couple days later the UK won Eurovision? That must have been a wild few days!
Was looking back over my Turin videos and pics today and came across 'SloMo' in the jury show. One of the best live Eurovision experiences I've ever had!
Australia's Eurovision Grand Final televote points:
Sound of Silence: 191
Tonight Again: 132
Zero Gravity: 131
We Got Love: 9
Not the Same: 2
Don't Come Easy: 2
It seems Europe can be quite black and white with us.
Just a little FYI, “didgeridoo” is an introduced Western term. The instrument used on stage is a Yidaki. No worries if you say digeridoo, at Aussievision we basically say Yidaki (Didgeridoo) as we know that's what people know it as! But the more you know, the more you know!
EBU reference group head: "The non-binary flag is permitted at the ESC, along with the flags of the participating countries and the rainbow flag. This was partly implemented incorrectly on site, which we regret. Nemo did everything right."
Are we being gaslit?
Thank you so much for the amazing messages about Melodifestivalen. It means so much! It was an absolute honour, slightly terrifying and Ive barely slept because of rehearsal times! Will talk about what I can on today’s
@aussievisionnet
podcast so subscribe if you haven’t!
Look, 2018 was an odd year but at this point (mid April) Eleni Foureira wasn't even in the Top 10 to QUALIFY while Eugent Bushpepa was 18th of 19 to get through. Belgium was 1.08 to make it.
Three editions of Australia Decides has produced SIX Eurovision artists:
Kate Miller-Heidke
Montaigne
Sheldon Riley
Voyager
Andrew Lambrou
Electric Fields

It is heartbreaking to miss out and I particularly feel for my Aussies over there in Sweden. But it is a privilege for us to be competing, even with a NQ. It's part of the circle of Eurovision life! We'll be back bigger and better.
#SBSEurovision
Want to see: UK fans getting excited, engaged and loving 'SPACE MAN' and having a real shot at a great result! woo! 🎉
Don't want to see: The phrase "it's coming home" 😐
I beg you!
The first and last lyrics we'll hear in each Eurovision semi-final:
SEMI 1
First: She, queen of the kings
Last: Cha cha cha cha cha cha cha
SEMI 2
First: Do you remember?
Last: Alright!
The amount of time it took to do each Eurovision televote result sequence since 2016:
2016: 10 minutes
2017: 8 minutes
2018: 8 minutes
2019: 10 minutes
2021: 14 minutes
2022: 17 minutes
This needs to get back to 10 minutes or less & not focus on the artists who score low.
I think it's great that the Instagram comment statement recognises "regret" and that they will "do better." However, they still do not take responsibility here. They said it wasn't banned, but the non-binary flag was clearly not accepted in policy and practice.
I think we need someone to chart the 'worst year ever' Eurovision tweets, it literally happens EVERY year... is it around the same time? National final fatigue? Based on amount of songs out? I'd love to know - I'm fascinated!
I am so proud to have Electric Fields and 'One Milkali (One Blood)' as our entry. Last year was a particularly tough one for the healing Australia needs to do. This entry with its beautiful message showcases culture and authenticity. Whatever happens, happens.

Look past ONE result re televote and jury. Look at the big picture. UK fans popping off, you would have been 5th last year and not hosting. Aussies popping off, we would have finished 20th (and 4th in 2016). It's always been about composition AND entertainment. SHEESH.
To say Eurovision next year will be popular is an understatement... I'm hoping whichever city gets it provides a great on the ground fan experience because many many many people will miss out on tickets.
Ha yes an incredible honour to be Australia’s spokesperson! Though just to note the votes of Australia are from a jury not just me! See y’all later in the show! 😃
My thoughts on C****** B***
-Takes moments away from artists
-Gives Eurofans a bad name with broadcasters and artists
-Just your average troll/s hiding behind a account
@cantdecide86
Israel performing is divisive. This is the crowd responding. Letting boos heard is apolitical. Showing one side and pretending it is all cheers is downright propaganda. It’s pretty simple and factual.
The times I cried during Eurovision:
1. Watching Loreen sing Tattoo at the “Nordic Party”
2. During Luke Evans segment in the dress rehearsal
3. Marco’s jury performance
4. Mahmood jury performance
5. You’ll never walk alone jury performance
1/2
Can someone get the Eurovision/EBU folk an expert in brand and crisis comms? As a comms/marketing person I'm almost more offended by their incompetence in this area than I am about everything else.
The first time Australia won’t be in the Grand Final since 2014 but Montaigne did us so proud. Always tough from live-on-tape. It won’t stop me enjoying every minute of Eurovision this year. And less pressure for Sunday morning!

A lot of chat about Electric Fields not doing the pre-parties and that they should be.
My view: Stay home. Save the exhausting travel and expense and prepare for the only performance that matters: Eurovision!
(Different for each artist - this is right for EF)
They said themselves "flags of the participating countries and the rainbow flags" only. This is not the non-binary flag. There is a very real (flawed) PR/Comms strategy of not admitting fault.
Countless artists & broadcasters complaining and some folks are still saying it's a fan press bubble beat up?
The behaviour by *some* in the EBU has been toxic for years and we've been quiet for fear of retribution.
We actively have to avoid reporting things. Get a grip.
No live tweeting from us at Aussievision for the Grand Final for the first time. Partly because it's been a very long and difficult season & we want to enjoy whatever we can from this Grand Final. And partly because of well, *everything*
There's been analysis that OGAE clubs don't represent the full Eurovision fan community. And that's true for sure.
But then the commentary that Twitter somehow is more representative is a little delusional.
They are all bubbles that aren't truly representative.
We were v lucky to receive 1 x press accred onsite in Turin which we are very grateful for. Unfortunately no online accreditation for anyone else. That 1 person (not me) will have to cover press conferences, rehearsals & interviews across website, video, podcast and social.
It's wild to me they are doing this AFTER the jury results.
"I know you just got dogged by the jury and can't win, but can you go out, smile and lip sync to ABBA thanks? Cheers!"

I'm actually not really concerned about fan reaction on this one. Unless we scream *winner* we are consistently underrated by fans. The only result that matters is in May and we have proved time and time again that we do better than fan expectations. 💅
