Same boat! Iceland is otherworldly. They are all fluent (at least in Reykjavik); the kids (well, young adults now) had pitch-perfect Received Pronunciation accents. Did you know that until the early 2000s or so, Icelandic law required immigrants to change their first and last names to Icelandic names picked from a list? Lot more relaxed now. My only regret is I couldn't drive when I visited. Taking a 4x4 on Route 1 (ring road) in the summer is a lot of fun, I'm told. And no rushing.
