First hand account of a Chinese trans woman about her experiences in a Chinese “conversation therapy camp” that’s strictly speaking illegal but due to the corruption of local officials/police is allowed to continue.
To literally call this a concentration camp *is not* hyperbole.
I’ve summarised Luo Keke’s case in English and shared the information on several UK and international trans and queer social media platforms. Please also RT this on X:

This is an excellent analysis of contemporary reactionary TERF (pseudo-)radical feminism in the mainland Chinese context, which has some overlap with Western TERF-ism but also some key differences.
The author is a Chinese trans woman and queer trans-feminist.
Highly recommended

We have a responsibility to clear up this matter. I absolutely think our trans male brothers face a huge amount of discrimination and prejudice as well, but it is a manifestation of transmisogyny that mainstream media jump to the conclusion that the shooter is a trans woman.
@vyrthandi
For as long as I can remember, before I knew I am a trans female, whenever I got “misgendered” (technically “correctly gendered”) and “called a girl” as a child I always “secretly felt happy about it deep down”. Looking back now it seems I was an “egg” from a young age.

, I protested in front of the Singapore's Attorney-General's Chambers and State Courts over the unjust treatment of transgender women in remand and prison. I was arrested, held in custody for about 10 hours, and released at around 1am on 1st April.

Transphobia is now common place.
We would never say someone had “racial critical views” but we justify transphobia by using the term “gender critical views”.
This right wing Tory gov has created a fake gender war, leading to a rise in hate crimes against a marginalised group.
@womensmarch
Thank you for this explicit affirmation from my cisgender sisters. This really means a lot for me as a trans woman, especially at this relatively difficult time for our community.
@mep_tw
@wontgoon
This meme reminds me of a Chinese femboy/CD sex worker (which I have nothing against intrinsically) who made fun of Chinese trans women on X, calling us “ugly” & even making fun of some Chinese trans women who have MH issues, many of whom are living under oppressive conditions.
@mattxiv
As an East Asian trans woman, I find him very offensive not just because he is clearly very transphobic, but also because of his racist attempt at “trans-racialist yellow face”. People like him becoming a major spokesperson for the anti-trans movement is a new low even for them.
@COSMICPOPP
Biphobia is even worse when it intersects with other things like transphobia, transmisogyny, racism etc. (Speaking as a bisexual ethnic Chinese trans woman living in the U.K.)
It is with sadness that we report that another trans person Pauly Likens, this time a teenager (14 years old), has been murdered.
The details are far too horrific to even want to mention here.
She deserved a better world where she could live in peace and love.
Rest easy 💔
@sempiternalsap
This is actually misogynistic. Instead of criticising patriarchal socio-economic systems & the exploitation of female sexuality, it implicitly assumes a “metaphysical” andro-centric view of “sex” & sees all “sex as female” as inherently “reactionary”.
We’re deeply saddened to share that the High Court has upheld the government’s ban on puberty blockers.
We won’t stop fighting for the rights and dignity of young trans people, and we’re consulting on next steps.
@isthisbicuIture
She also somehow assumes that “trans” and “bi” are always “different groups”. But I am for instance both a trans woman and also a bi woman. Basically she has no understanding of intersectionality. I experience both transphobia and biphobia.
Oscar Al-Halabiye, a trans woman and former dancer, joined the Palestinian resistance against the Israeli occupation in Southern Lebanon. She, along with her lover, was martyred during a commando operation. Their story is documented in "Cinema Fouad." Long live the intifada 🇵🇸
@graceelavery
It’s a trans-misogynistic double standard that has no scientific or philosophical validity. When a cis woman appreciates her own body, it’s feminist empowerment, when a trans woman does the same, it’s “auto-gynephilia”. 🙄
1. Huge news out of the UK. The British Medical Association, which represents 190,000 doctors in the UK, has voted against implementation of the Cass Review, calling the review "unsubstantiated."
This will have global impacts.

Absolute fucking batshit country. Five years for *planning* a non violent protest? The overuse of custodial sentences has long been an issue but wtf - there are rapists who will never see the inside of a cell. This overreach is dangerous & antidemocratic & we should all be scared
@ItsLulu_7
@SiestaSocialist
I have a lot of respect for Jin Xing. And there are indeed some positive points about being trans in China. But due to economic inequality and conservative patriarchal views, many many trans people (especially trans fems) from more disadvantaged backgrounds are really struggling.
Islamophobes try to process this: A trans girl in China afraid of going back to her ultra-transphobic parents has been fully accepted & supported by a local Chinese Hui Muslim mosque.
All you Islamophobes in the West, what have you ever done for vulnerable trans people like her?

@ereshkigirlboss
IMHO it’s less “not allowed to show emotion” & more “less socially acceptable to show weakness”. But women being more acceptable to show weakness is a double-edged sword, as in reality it’s only OK in certain “safe contexts”. In general society women suffer more violence than men

个人认为政治还是重要的,尤其是对于像LGBTQ这样的受压迫群体。当然这个主要是与个人和社群有直接关系的政治,不是宏观国际政治一类。西谚有云:You might not be interested in politics; But politics is still interested in you. 不过确实与其整天在网上做无谓的辩论,不如为社群做些实质性的工作

Tbh even a lot of the "domestic unpaid labour" women usually do in traditional societies are pretty "skilled" and their unpaid status is mainly due to the double oppression of class society (including capitalism) and patriarchy.
@bloomfilters
I mean tbh if there is a “magical way” to make me a *cis girl* I would go for that, but definitely not a cis guy. One would have to change who I am so fundamentally for me to actually want to be a cis guy that effectively one would need to erase my existence.
According to statistical figures from China, the average life expectancy of trans people in China is only …16. 😢
White Western people who “whitewash” the oppression of trans people in China, you should really be ashamed of yourselves.
Where the fu*ck is your conscience, scum
@Esqueer_
For trans people this will be no doubt be combined with coercive conversion therapy, as is already happening in some private “conversion centres” in mainland China. This is a big reason why the suicide rate for trans youths in China is so high at the moment.
@junefembug
IMO any over-use and over-emphasis on “AMAB/AFAB” is a form of trans-misogyny. Now I reserve the right to simply not disclose whether I’m AMAB or not in many situations. My experience is that people sometimes do treat me differently based on this. It shouldn’t matter but it does.
@IndiaWilloughby
On Chinese Twitter sometimes people joke about the low quality of some forms of ultra-pro-Chinese propaganda (like the one about the black-and-white photo of the city wall from 1550 BCE), but honestly IMO nothing compares to the drivel from the right-wing transphobic Anglo media.
@maidensblade
I agree. While being non-white/non-Western I’m definitely very much against colonialism/imperialism & its transphobic legacy, one should also not over-romanticise pre-colonial cultures. There were much that can be critically inherited but it wasn’t perfect for trans people either
@transgabalus
Tbh I think trans women should be able to choose whether they voice train or not. Whether one voice trains or not, one is just as valid as the other. One’s gender is not intrinsically based on voice. There are some cis women who have deep voice too.
