While on a call for service, one of our officers noticed a home in need of some repairs. He then brought in his own power tools & went over to that location & assisted the young man in fixing the stairs. This ofc.’s act of kindness signifies community policing at its finest.

WHOOOO would have expected this call to IPD? A resident discovered a potentially injured owl in her yard and called 911. We’re happy to report that the owl has been safely turned over to the DEC and will be taken to a wildlife rehab center! Great work Ofc. Pierson and Sgt. Coon!
Does any of this make sense? How can we say we are doing things right? We are throwing away a generation because no one has the audacity to say we need to make necessary changes.
Our officers are out there, every day and night, trying to keep our town safe.
Welcome to our new Police Chief Scott Peters, who started on the job today. After taking his Oath of Office, Chief Peters attended his first roll call to meet his new officers.
As we continue to work through the COVID-19 pandemic the women and men of the IPD wish to recognize the efforts of all essential workers who risk their health everyday for the community. You are all hero's in our eyes!
