We have reached a point where we can use an AI tool to write 95% of a doctoral thesis that meets the requirements of a degree. Inevitably, this raises numerous questions, the most pressing being: what is a PhD still worth when anyone can have their thesis written almost completely with a payment of $200 using DeepReserach? What use are bachelor's and master's degrees? This point has now been reached. Anyone who submits a PhD thesis is almost stupid if they don't have the majority of it written by AI.

@slow_developer Yes. I thought the future path of AI was obvious. And then RSI. Again, we (humanity) will come to understand we move at the speed of human and all the implications that follow from that.

@billyhumblebrag My assumption has always been that biotech is shackled by ethics more than most other industries. Dr. Moreau did nothing wrong!

@EricRWeinstein @daddm3_ I'm glad I clicked through to read this. I feel like this interaction will serve as a microcosm of what is to come.

@emollick This just shows most people's insecurity when it comes to written words. When you feel like your ability to articulate your thoughts and feelings are insufficient you offload that responsibility to something "better than you" at it.

@b34kw1ld3r @DrBrianKeating We might be! Quick boot up the RSI!
AI researcher: "i have to cope in weird ways to figure out how this may not be my last year or so alive" (As Sam Altman said, recursive self-improvement/RSI is "really scary")
