My position is that the law should be strictly enforced, and if we are to have mercy, it should be well defined and written into the law, not arbitrary determined. Strictly enforced the law but build mercy into the law. The problem we will eventually run into is that public support of mass deportations will drop once you get through those with major criminal records and start getting to those who are generally productive and law abiding (asside from being here illegally).

@lauralininnis @carolmswain I'm talking non-violent crimes here. Violent crimes should also consider public safety.

@lauralininnis @carolmswain If you look at the replies to my post, you will see that I admitted that my post was made in ignorance. With that being said, I appreciate the correction. Thank you!

Full self driving is about to change everything. Autonomous cars are going to follow the laws. They are going to come to a full stop at stop signs, follow speed limits, use turn signals properly, and do proper merging and lane changes. The AI isn't going to care if you are mad, impatient, or flipping it off. At times, some of the cars won't even have a person in the car to be mad at. Flipping it off will be the equivalent of flipping off a microwave because it isn't cooking fast enough for you.

It's not a contradiction at all. Our prophet asked us to stop using Mormon and to go by the official name of the church, 'The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' Humans are not perfect. They didn't perfectly follow prophets in biblical times, and they don't now. The Savior knew this. That is why there is the atonement and repentance. You don't perfectly follow the doctrine of your faith. You are lying if you say you do. All of us fall short of the Glory of God. That is why it was necessary for the Savior to suffer for our sins.

@LDSMormon There has to be some kind of a test we could ask that tests whether people have actually read it. The test would need to be able to confirm that they read it without being something you could answer with a quick Google or AI inquiry.

Our laws should follow the plan of salvation. The plan of salvation allows for the fact that people aren't perfect and will make mistakes. For this reason, mercy was built into the plan through the atonement. Mercy isn't automatically granted it is earned through repentance. Repentance requires a process and work. Going through the process helps you appreciate mercy and the law. Our laws should account for the fact that people aren't perfect and will make mistakes. Mercy should be built into the laws and we'll defined not arbitrarily given. The mercy should require that you go through a process to earn it. The process should help you learn to appreciate mercy and the law. The law should be strictly enforced, but the law should provide for mercy. Finding the right balance between justice and mercy is always the difficult part. Too much justice is totalitarianism. Too much mercy is anarchy and chaos.

The DUI problem will be solved by tech, not government. Government creates more problems than it solves. In a few years, the roads will be full of cars that require no driver. Some won't even have a steering wheel or controls. You could be passed out drunk open bottle in hand and the car will still get you safety to your destination.

My car and my phone use the same battery chemistry. If my car can stop charging at 80% to preserve the life of the battery, why can't my phone? Not charging your phone to 100% every day makes the battery last longer, but most people charge while they sleep and can't monitor when the charge hits 80% and unplug the phone. The difference is the car manufacturer knows that the battery is the most expensive part and knows battery life contributes to hesitancy in buying electric cars, so they take steps to preserve battery life. Your phone manufacturer has no incentive to help you extend the life of your phone battery, They want you to have to buy a new phone in a few years.

@KSLcom They don't want your kid recording teacher when teacher goes on anti-American rants or indoctrinates your kid in gender ideology. That's what this is about. If it was about social media, they would have done this a decade ago.

Yes, Utah's own governor @GovCox is a Marxist. His solution to every problem is more government and more spending.
Marxism is so prevalent in America That we donβt even see it as such Even when itβs right in front of us Marxism sucks the joy out of life And kills the instinct to innovate Where have you seen its influence?
