I have left my role as Pre-Academy Manager. I have been fortunate to recruit over 50% of the current Academy schoolboys so I will continue to watch their journey with interest. I am now ready for a new challenge in Talent ID.
Yesterday I received contrasting news re 2 Academy U15s that I coached as U8s. One had just been released and one had been called up for the first time to England U15s. No journey is the same.

has scored goals all the way through his Academy journey. He always knew how many he had scored at any stage of the season. Born to score goals.
Always love the debate on measuring and recruiting sporting talent and nature or nurture. Only 70 pages in but already an insightful read. Highly recommended.

Sadly for us supporters, he seems to have lost all enthusiasm for the job and that has clearly had an impact on his players.
A great coaches/ players and parents Zoom tonight with our Psychology team. How we use football and our Academy environment to develop key psychological mindsets (transferable life skills).

Developing the player and the person.

Atyeo is best for away fans as it has the worst facilities and is totally separate from the main stadium concourse etc. Need to make South Stand all safe standing and move S82 behind the goal.

In Germany, Wed afternoon is sports in all schools. Therefore clubs pick up the boys from school at 12.00 and they then spend around 7 hours at the Academy. Time is spent between gym, pitch and classroom sessions (football based).
Another great football camp put on by

Whitchurch U9s team are playing POB U9s this Sunday. To get there, they have to travel along the Portway for a short while. Some parents will have to pay £9 for this privilege. How can that be right.

Great messages to any aspiring young footballers from Pato tonight. Having a stubbornness and determination to prove people wrong. Continue to work hard and have fun and enjoyment from football.

It was a pleasure coaching Barney and watching his journey through the Academy. He is a model professional and a great human being. I wish him all the best for the future.

Agreed Nick, we are trying to develop both good footballers and good people. Most won’t make it as footballers so by developing good people as well we are providing the platform for them to find success in another field of life.

@RyleyTowler
Great young signing for you all to enjoy his outstanding ability on the ball. I hope we have a decent sell on clause. He is a great lad. Pompey will love him.

Many coaches have the tech/ tact at a certain level, the key differentiators are normally around the social side. Personality, communication and building rapport and trust with your players.
Whitchurch Sports Dev Group for Rec/Yr 1 boys restarts on Sat 5th Sept at 9.00am at Leisure Village West Town Lane. Coaching with Bristol City Pre Academy Manager Ian Rossiter and other Academy and FA qualified coaches. A great start to your sons football journey.
@J_Tanswell
So was Bobby Reid at Bristol City. Playing up or down as part of an Academy journey can be so beneficial for the development of a young footballer.
