My thanks to Prime Minister
@BorisJohnson
for his support and reassurances during our discussion this evening. We will continue to work closely with the UK Government in order to resolve the current challenges diplomatically and avoid any unnecessary escalation
Jersey is an amazing Island with beautiful beaches and cliff walks, let’s take this opportunity to make the most of them. I can’t put it more directly than this. If we don’t social distance now, lives WILL be lost
#letssavelives
There is no reason to extend parts of the UK Fisheries Bill to Jersey. The inclusion of a Permissive Extent Clause is unwanted and completely unnecessary. Jersey remains in full control of its fisheries legislation and territorial waters.
Suggestions that Jersey should elect an MP to the UK House of Commons are usually made by friends of the island who have our interests at heart and want our voice to be heard in Westminster. It would, though, wholly undermine our constitutional status and reduce our autonomy. 1/2
Islanders have spoken. We now need a CM who will unite the Assembly, act on the peoples priorities and provide hope for the future. I’m optimistic, I’m supporting
@Moore4Jersey
Your Majesty we are humbled by your example of selfless service. We are numbed by your passing. We have no words to describe our feelings this day. Rest in Peace. God Save the King.
So sorry to hear of the passing of
@GaryBurgessCI
he will be missed by us all. Even during his suffering he was courageous and gave others hope. Thank you Gary for enriching our lives. My thoughts and prayers are with his family RIP.

Simon Boas was one of the most capable public servants I have had the pleasure of working with. He was intelligent, humble & kind. He loved Jersey, & loved life. Simon’s untimely death is a tragedy. We will all miss him greatly. My prayers are with Aurelie and Simon’s family. RIP
I have submitted my nomination form for Deputy of St Mary, St Ouen and St Peter. I am grateful to all my supporters and am looking forward to meeting Parishioners during the campaign
Jersey has never been part of the UK and for that reason we have never had an MP in Westminster. We are a separate jurisdiction, loyal to the Crown, and not a UK constituency. I want to protect, enhance and promote our distinct identity, and could never support this proposal. 2/2
I am standing for Chief Minister to provide stability, experience, and leadership for Jersey. We need to restore and maintain confidence & quickly re-focus our efforts to deliver actions which will improve islanders’ lives. I will work across the Assembly to build consensus.
I am pleased to confirm that I will be an independent candidate for Deputy in St. Peter, St. Ouen and St. Mary. I am looking forward to the campaign, and believe I offer the experience and leadership needed to stand up for Jersey, and deal with the issues that matter to Islanders
I have enjoyed working with
@gavinstpier
during his time as Treasury Minister and Chief Minister of
@Govgg
. He is always well-informed and insightful. We have represented the CIs interests on many key issues. I respect him greatly and hope we can continue working together.
Earlier today officials from
@GovJersey
met with officials from France, the UK and the EU commission and there was due to be a positive announcement today.
Moneyval has found that Jersey is Compliant or Largely Compliant with 39/40 Recommendations. Few jurisdictions achieve this high level of compliance. I’m grateful for the hard work of colleagues in

I haven’t always agreed with your analysis, but I’ve always respected your motivation. You will be sorely missed. Happy retirement. We are all rooting for you, you go with our very best wishes.
Dionne and I wish you a very Happy Christmas, and a peaceful, hope-filled New Year.
Thank you to those who are working for the emergency services, the hospitality industry, keeping our infrastructure running, caring for the sick, the elderly or vulnerable.
This afternoon, I had a good conversation with the President of La Manche
@MarcLefevreCD50
on what are a difficult set of issues relating to fishing licences. There are a number of important matters which we will continue to work through.
Very sad to hear of the death of Colin Powell. I will always be grateful for his wise advice when I served as Chief Minister. There aren’t many difficult situations Colin hasn’t faced before, and he could always help politicians see the long view. Sincerest sympathy to his family
Congratulations to President Elect
@JoeBiden
we look forward to continuing to build a strong and revitalised relationship with the USA via
@jerseyfinance
and our New Jersey links.
Honoured to be sworn in as a Deputy for St Mary, St Ouen and St Peter. It is a privilege to represent our three Parishes. As promised during the election campaign I have as my first action, working with
@lyndonfarnham
, lodged a proposition to bring back Senators.
I am honoured to have been elected to represent St Mary, St Ouen and St Peter. Thank you to everyone who voted for me. I will work hard to represent our Parishes as a Deputy in the States.
Congratulations to
@Moore4Jersey
,
@LucyStevoJSY

Delighted to sign with the

Jersey’s first-ever Bilateral Investment Treaty alongside HE Minister Mohamed bin Hadi Al Hussaini at the Ministry of Finance
@MOFUAE
. This historic agreement will enhance business flows and protect investments between our jurisdictions.
As we celebrate the 76th anniversary of Jersey’s liberation following our occupation in WWII, we also mark and greatly value our current friendship and cooperation with Germany. I’m looking forward to speaking with
@GermanAmbUK
tomorrow to discuss our ongoing and future links
Today, the election trail took me to Plemont. There could have been 28 doorbells to ring on this headland. Fortunately, due to the efforts 8 years ago of
@PhilipBailhache
and
@NatTrustJersey
, which I supported as Chief Minister, there were just two prospective voters to canvass.
Earlier this week, I was pleased to meet again with H.E. Ambassador Al-Hinai
@EmbassyOmanUk
. 2021 looks to be a very promising year for developing Jersey-Oman relations and I hope to be able to visit the Sultanate soon.
Dear Sir Richard, it was always a pleasure representing the Channel Islands together. Thank you for your friendship, from your sister Bailiwick.
#cheerstothebailiff
I am shocked and deeply saddened at the news that Sadie Rennard has passed away. Sadie was always so warm, friendly and kind. She was so proud of our Island and traditions and always stood up for St Saviour. I know many people will miss her greatly, as will I. RIP Sadie.
I have had a number of positive engagements in Westminster this week with UK Parliamentarians. Once again, it was great to hold several meetings jointly with
@govgg
External Affairs Minister
@letocq
. It’s always beneficial to represent Channel Island interests together.
It was a great honour and privilege to be present in the Royal Square yesterday to welcome the King and Queen to Jersey, and to re-affirm our loyalty to the Crown. The island gave Their Majesties a very warm welcome, and we didn’t let the weather stop what was a great day.

even physically distanced we are together in our thoughts, prayers and remembrance. We are grateful to all who’ve given their lives.
Jersey’s Moneyval Review puts us in the top 10% globally for technical compliance and effectiveness, and the report confirms we are the highest rated international finance centre. It is an excellent outcome for the island.
The report can be read here -
A big thank you to the emergency services, honorary police, other volunteers and good neighbours who've been working to keep us safe through this storm. Take care all.
I have made 2 Orders to give effect to the final legal changes required in preparation for the end of the Brexit Transition Period. This brings to a close our current link with the EU through Protocol 3. We now have a new relationship which we are ready to implement successfully
Another difficult night for staff and volunteers - hopefully our emergency services, honorary officers and Infrastructure staff will have a more peaceful time tonight. I’m extremely grateful for their work throughout
#StormEleanor
States of Jersey’s 2017 annual report shows income up £30m since 2016, departmental spending up £6m (mainly on pay awards). 2017 saw Strategic Reserve up to £840m and almost £2 billion in Social Security Reserve.
A good day for Jersey. A great effort from

A new inter-island partnership between Jersey and Guernsey has been established - we’ll be working together to deliver better services at better value for money

On this Easter Morning, my thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of those murdered in Sri Lanka. Let’s remember all who are persecuted for their faith in Christ. Hope is Stronger than fear, Happy Easter.
I am very sorry that Lord Keen has resigned and is no longer the UK Minister responsible for relations with the Crown Dependencies. Lord Keen was and will remain a true friend of Jersey. I appreciate the work he undertook on our behalf and wish him every success for the future.
Jersey has signed an Asset Recovery Agreement with the Government of Kenya which will facilitate the return of £3 million of confiscated assets to the people of

So sorry to hear about
@amessd_southend
another life of service brought to an untimely end. My best wishes to all his family. We must always strive to ensure that what unites us is a stronger than what divides us. RIP.
We’ll continue to uphold high international standards of regulation & have already started implementing recommendations from the review. This is a strong base from which to grow & develop the industry further, enhance our competitiveness & meet the needs of our global clients 3/3
RIP Tim, you will be missed by all who knew you. You always had a word of hope and encouragement. Thank you for your example. My thoughts and prayers are with your family, friends and all St Mary parishioners.
@YellowCandleUK
for Yom HaShoah remembering the millions of victims of the holocaust, each one a person missed, each a reason never to forget. A candle signifying hope and life. A pertinent reminder at this time that hope and faith overcomes the darkness. Together we can.
If elected tomorrow, I will be honoured to represent St Ouen, St Mary and St Peter. I will continue to stand up for Jersey, protect everything that makes us unique and work to keep our Island successful in the years ahead.
A joint statement with the Environment Minister following a positive call I had yesterday with the EU Commissioner for Environment, Oceans and Fisheries
@VSinkevicius
Today we published details of the Jersey EU Settlement Scheme. This will ensure the many EU citizens who make a valuable contribution to our community can continue living and working in Jersey post-Brexit.
I’m very pleased to have worked with the Chief Minister
@lyndonfarnham
to make a £1 million allocation from the Dormant Bank Accounts Fund to support the vital work of Jersey’s charity and voluntary sector.
During the celebration of the 10th anniversary of the OECD Global Forum on Transparency and Exchange of information for tax purposes, a moment to remember Colin Powell, hardly a day goes by that I don’t miss his wise counsel and advice.
Delighted to have confirmation today that the UK will extend
@wto
membership to
#JerseyCI
when it takes up independent representation after
#Brexit
. This achieves a 20+ year policy aim and ensures Island companies have access to global rules on trade in goods, services and IP.

Let’s never forget our hard won freedoms. Freedom to disagree, freedom to love, freedom to touch, freedom to see the best in each other, freedom to come together as a community to builder a stronger future. Let’s seize the opportunity others suffered to bequeath to us.
The Moneyval Report published today confirms that Jersey’s finance industry has a high level of compliance with global standards. This independent review shows that Jersey is a responsible & cooperative international finance centre supporting legitimate growth & prosperity. 1/3
I was pleased to attend the opening of the Field of Remembrance at the Cenotaph this lunchtime. We must never forget the sacrifice that so many who came before us made for our freedom.

I welcome the French governments pragmatism. We will continue to work with the U.K., the EU and France to make the TECA work for all parties and is complied with.
Looking forward to today’s meetings in

1/2The words of the 23rd Psalm have been on my mind over the last weeks, ‘The Lord’s my shepherd, I’ll not want,’ and ‘even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, your rod and your staff comfort me.’

Let’s be clear, this is a ‘think tank’ piece! It isn’t going to happen. I certainly wouldn’t agree to it, nor would any Jersey Government that I might be a part of!!
Congratulations to the External Relations and Financial Services teams on the award from IEBF recognising their excellent work. It’s a privilege to be part of such a professional team, putting Islanders first.
@GovJersey
I am pleased to have signed a Jersey-U.K. Customs Arrangement today. This will allow

to continue to trade with the U.K. free of tariffs, with no restrictions on quantities, after

2/2 Last Sunday HMQ reflected the ancient Easter message, of new life and hope when she said “ we will meet again”. On this morning of new beginnings, I know we will get through this terrible time. I wish everyone a Happy Easter.
@TheOnlyGuru
We are currently focusing on getting family members here, and supporting them. I’m sorry that it’s so difficult and bureaucratic, but we are working with the U.K. I agree with you, that we must and can do more. I’ll be picking up again with U.K. tomorrow.
Reports that Jersey is on a ‘Grey List’ are simply incorrect.

Conclusions acknowledge Jersey is a cooperative jurisdiction, has built a positive relationship with the EU, and is determined to meet its commitments by the end of 2018.
I've signed a Ministerial Decision that starts the process to make changes to Jersey legislation at 11pm on Friday 31 January, when the UK ceases to be a member of the EU. I want to thank officials across

Pleased to be meeting
@AnnickGirardin
in person today. Constructive and ongoing dialogue, plus provision of data, are key to achieving resolution on fisheries.
An opportunity to reset relations and reinstate cooperation for the benefit of both fishing communities.
I was delighted to attend an event last night to mark the signing of a UK trade pact with the State of Texas - the second largest US State by size of economy. Great to catch up with Business & Trade Secretary

, Trade Minister

& the Governor
@GovAbbott

It’s a precaution. If no deal for U.K. on Data Protection, then they become 3rd country and need a GDPR adequacy cert from EU. Todays law enables Jersey cos to send data to U.K. without worry about U.K. being ‘adequate’. ie we treat them as if they are! Hope this makes sense
