Moving beyond what could be done to what should be done @NASA is aiming to go further than ever before, but they're making sure to do it responsibly. A new paper explores how NASA is considering the ethical, legal, and societal impacts (ELSI) of its Moon to Mars missions. The paper emphasizes the need for expanded dialogue with diverse stakeholders to consider the ELSI for responsible exploration - an approach that is central to the Interplanetary Initiative's mission of uniting people from all fields to pursue ideas and solutions that benefit life on Earth and beyond. āEthics Matter: Responsible behavior in space is a key part of NASA's Moon to Mars strategy and goals. āHolistic Approach: ELSI is being woven into all aspects of exploration - science, inspiration, and international cooperation. āTaking Action: NASA's been busy! Hosting workshops, putting forth space sustainability policy considerations, and funding research on economic, social, and policy analyses of lunar surface sustainability. āLong-Term Thinking: Considering ELSI as key for responsible exploration, shaping the future of humanity in space. Want to learn more? Check out the full paper at the link: #ASUSpaceĀ #SpaceExploration #ELSI #NASA

This month, we're diving into big questions on Emerging Spacefaring Nations like "What might a future in space look like if it were co-authored by all nations, especially those from the Global South?" Too often, the space narrative is shaped by a few voices. This special New Space Journal issue, inspired by āAfrica: A New Approach to Global Governanceā and written by @crisveijk and Dr. Timiebi Aganaba, highlights African perspectives in space law, bridging their insights with Third World Approaches to International Law (TWAIL) principles and Critical Approaches to International Law (CAIL). š Read the article:Ā #ASUSpace #SpaceFuturesForward #SpaceFutures #MakeYourSpace #EmergingNations
