Beatles podcast A jaunty stroll through Pepperland discussing The Beatles' & solo Beatle albums with a pot pourri of delicious guests Hosted by
@ChrisShawEditor
What’s your favourite Beatles ‘moment’?
A lyric? A chord sequence? A photo?
For me it’s the unbridled joy of their 1964 appearance on The Morecambe and Wise Show
Rarely do you get a Beatles-related book that raises the bar as much as this one.
It effortlessly blurs the lines between thoroughly researched documentation and fascinating, entertaining cultural history.
A must-have document that will be referred to for years.

@DisneyPlusUK
Peter Jackson has "another 2hrs" of restored footage that he wants Disney+ /Apple to release.
He’s asked fans to "petition Disney" to help make this happen.
Having just done a 200k+GB podcast I assure you fans want this (DM for demographics)
Yes?
And that’s a wrap!
Thanks to the delicious guests for giving up your time.
But special thanks to you for listening - I can’t believe you stuck with it!
Taking a wee break as Mrs EggPod & I have barely seen each other for 2 months!

Oh boy, it’s time!
It’s 2pm on Thursday 2nd November 2023 and we’re all a part of history, as fans all over the world prepare to listen to the last Beatles song - Now and Then.
Hang on to Beatle boots folks, it’s going to be emotional!
See you all on the other side…
Always envied Beatles fans in the ‘60s who lived through the experience of a new Beatles single being released every few months.
To be around when a Beatles song (well, near enough for me!) goes to number one is very special.
Watch The Beatles rehearsing “Don’t Let Me Down” at Apple Studios - from Peter Jackson’s original docuseries

RIP beautiful Charlie Watts.
A brilliant drummer; stylish beyond words; the coolest Stone; adored his jazz; sharp dresser; dry wit; rescue dog supporter and my childhood hero ❤️

Main takeaway from the promo and clips of Now and Then: The rich quality of John’s voice, the Revolver/I am the Walrus-era strings, Paul’s George slide guitar pastiche, Ringo - as always - the human metronome.
We get this tomorrow! A new bloody Beatles song! (ish) ❤️
Do you love The Beatles?

Very excited to announce a Beatles world exclusive!
In the next episode you’ll hear
@SamiraAhmedUK
go through the notes made while listening to The Beatles’ Stowe School performance - song by song.
Available on Sunday at - or everywhere else on Tuesday
Incredibly upset to hear we’ve lost Annie Nightingale. Her passion for music was beyond infectious and her radio/tv/writing educated millions of us. She was so warm, kind, and took the time to give me valuable advice.
Annie was my hero and I will miss her not being around ❤️
The best sounding audio of The Beatles’ Decca tapes I’ve ever heard!
A bit of MAL-esque tech has converted the songs to stereo and you can really pick up Pete Best’s ‘Atom Beat’ that would’ve got that Cavern stomping
To celebrate Paul McCartney’s 80th birthday there’ll be four daily EggPods from Weds 15 June to the big day on Sat 18 June.
Lots of guests (and listeners) choose their favourite Fab Macca moment.
See you then!

Oh my! Get Back is beyond wonderful.
They’re brothers.
If you can watch a particular moment on 10th January without choking up you’re doing bettering than me.

EggPodders, you are the best!
Thanks to all who sent in their contributions for the next episode. Sadly, I can’t use them all but I loved listening to all your thoughts.
Undoubtedly the most emotional editing process I’ve ever done. Hopefully it should be with you tomorrow x
Happy 60th to The Beatles’ debut album ‘Please Please Me’
Originally released only in mono, it fed from contemporary girl groups, R&B & Brill Building pop - as well as unleashing the Lennon & McCartney™️ behemoth.
In ‘19 Samira Ahmed spoke about it here
Michael Lindsay-Hogg a bit upset about comments on social media about Get Back.
If you have any nice things to say please feel free and I’ll make sure he sees them. x
Next up: It’s the 100th episode!
Julia Baird discusses growing up in Liverpool with her brother, John Lennon.
With you on Saturday 23rd April
( Or listen now on )
Hi
@mashupmartin
I’ve asked you before - and now I’m unashamedly splaying myself before you - but would you consider coming on to the podcast to talk about the next Beatles thing?
I promise it’ll be a good thing 👍x
Emergency EggPod recording tomorrow with
@SamiraAhmedUK
about The Beatles at Stowe School recording.
If you have any questions you’d like me to ask - then do so here ⬇️
Forget what you’ve been told. Let it Be is a brilliant movie. It’s not ‘dark’ at all! (unless you bought a dodgy VHS in the 1980s/1990s)
With the hindsight of 8hrs of Get Back, Michael Lindsay-Hogg’s film (albeit with no context whatsoever) should be considered a masterpiece ❤️
Macca often gets criticised for his lyrics, but there’s little that can hit you as powerfully as, “…but you were always there with a smile”
After a decade of countless articles about John and Paul’s falling out, I can’t express how much impact that line had hearing it in 1982
Emergency EggPod online!
Anticipating The Beatles’ Now and Then.
From last night’s interactive live show, discussing the new single and the Red & Blue albums.
This is quite the thing…
The B-roll clips from The Beatles’ 22/8/62 Cavern footage, but YouTube’s Adam Bound has matched the songs they (probably) performed by using BBC/Star-Club audio
And still it comes…
More unseen Beatles footage! This time from their April 1964 tv special ‘Around The Beatles’ - both dress rehearsals and clips from the show itself.
Hearing John singing If I Fell without Paul is beautifully disconcerting.
To write a song this good, then hand the main melody to Paul because he could sing the higher notes better (‘relegating’ yourself to harmony vox) is a graceful & humble thing to do
EggPodders! Due to your feedback, literally every guest has said how fab you (obviously) are. So thank you!
It’s been a challenge to record so many during all of this and, sorry, it’s taken its toll a bit.
So there’re lots more to come - but maybe not as frequently.
Thanks, all x
It was 55 years ago today…
On 30 January 1969 The Beatles clambered on to the rooftop of 3 Savile Row for what turned out to be their final public performance.
A couple of years ago
@StuartMaconie
talked about this historic day
Still considered ‘loveable mop-tops’ by Ed Sullivan’s viewers, The Beatles were sitting on Tomorrow Never Knows and about to unleash the psychedelic sonics of Rain.
Butterflies bursting from cocoons, the songwriters stay silent. So who introduces the world to the future?
Ringo👍
The missing “I don’t wanna lose you” section from John’s demo does survive in the new version of Now and Then. Listen to the second bar of the bridge, Paul plays the melody on the piano.
And where are the Eleanor Rigby “ahhhs”? Go to the “Always to…” in “Always to return to me”
Listening to The Beatles’ 1960 home recordings tonight (as you do) and wondering who is saying “It’s just ordinary.”
It doesn’t sound like John, Paul or George. So do we have an actual recording of Stuart Sutcliffe’s voice?
