In response today, I have taken a swift action to ensure he gets the necessary support. We have taken him to Mathare Hospital for medical evaluation and treatment. Once discharged, he will be provided with shelter at our county home for the homeless, where he can receive further care and support. We are also calling upon anyone who may know him or his family to come forward so that he can be reunited with his loved ones. At the same time, we are addressing the issue of illegal dumping and unauthorized structures to restore order and uphold environmental and public health standards in the area.

Following a public outcry, This evening, together with the Lang’ata Sub-County Administrator, we visited the galleria mall round-about area and observed that vendors have not only been dumping waste irresponsibly but have also constructed illegal structures along the roadside and blocked a basement walkway. This is unacceptable. The county government will take strict action to ensure compliance and restore order in the area.

Worse still, some are selling rotten fruits to unsuspecting customers. The law is now taking its course, and we will not allow such negligence to persist.

Today, I took action against traders selling rotten fruits in filthy environments. Upon seeing me, they fled to avoid arrest despite multiple warnings and guidance on proper food handling. These traders not only compromise public health but also violate the Nairobi City County Solid Waste Management Act, 2015, by dumping garbage carelessly and littering our streets. We will not relent. We will keep a close watch until we bring them to justice. To Nairobi residents: Be cautious about what you consume. Many vendors prioritize profit over your health and show little regard for hygiene and waste disposal. Your well-being comes first. Let’s clean up our city one step at a time.
