. @pollybloom86 . In my experience about 97% of the C of E apparatus loathes both the 1662 Prayer Book and the King James Bible. I shan't 'take it up' with anyone, but I will continue to contrast the beauty of the originals with the sapless dreariness of the new versions.

Yes, . @guffynicola . These are the founding texts in the English language, first generally used in English churches by the reformed CoE. The recognised standard of scripture is the King James version, except for the Psalms, where the earlier Coverdale translation is used.

A genuine Christian should go for the most accessible and accurate translation. Someone who does not see it as the Word of God will prefer the KJ version for its poetry.

Nowhere in the Bible I can find that God promises that the sinners (all of us) without repentance/asking for forgiveness through Christ, can be forgiven.
