@StilichoReads It's largely a cultural issue, but also related to the nature of doing a big company merger at speed. A competitive deal might 'cook' for a year and then explode in a flurry of 20h/day activity for a week as it comes to signing. Bankers who are staffed on 2-3 in a row can suffer

@litcapital Meanwhile in Manhattan, you get the illusion of prestige while you're abused by a series of coke fiend Managing Directors for 13h/day. Go home at 9:30 to slam 4 $25 cocktails and a THC gummy so you can collapse on the couch of your 600sqft apartment that costs $5k per month.

I came across this little gem, listed for $100k, but do you see the catch? The embedded labor in stone houses would be so costly in today's dollars that it is actually cheaper to have a specialized engineering firm....

@cremieuxrecueil I've always thought of McMansions as large homes made of cheap materials. A huge new house, on a tiny lot. Low grade finishes to maximize spend on square footage. Dumb flourishes like double-height entryway or a basement wine cellar that don't fit the rest of the house.
