More and more I am reminded that often the role of a psychologist is to hold nuance. To consider many perspectives. To sit with the discomfort of all of the mess. Especially in the face of complex systems and our natural desire to simplify or sanitise reality.

@DanielaZigova An interesting take. Lucy was invited by Trainees after the full cohort voted on the speakers we would like to hear from. The PTMF isn't inherently antipsychiatry, however it does challenge currently rhetoric around the medical model, as do many other approaches and speakers.

@DanielaZigova Ultimately the whole point of training is to experience a range of perspectives and ways of working in order to discern what kind of CP you want to be and identify which approaches fit with you. That's literally the primary aim of training.

Over the last decade I have been physically unwell about 6 times. 4/6 of those have been in the last 18 months of training on the DClinPsy. Who knew that chronic stress, questionable work life balance and juggling 20 things at once could really fuck up your immune system?!

Post qualifying I am determined to re-prioritise my wellbeing. I have taken a job with a small commute and great atmosphere of team support, and arranged to have 10 weeks off to travel and rest before I start. I will be reconnecting with exercise and making time for reading.

If your feminism doesn't include Trans women because you don't believe they are women, then I'm sorry but you are fundamentally missing the point, you are in fact transphobic, and your feminism is shit. Transwomen are women. And there is space within feminism for all of us.

I cannot tell you the transformational power of an NHS team who actively and aggressively encourage me to take time off when I am not feeling great, physically AND emotionally. It feels radical and overwhelming to be forced to rest, take care of myself and slow down by my team.

@DanielaZigova The comments do nothing of the sort, most try to encourage open mindedness curiosity and emphasise the need for open discussion, especially in a training context. Nasty personal comments are unacceptable. But so is close minded, refusal to engage with ideas that you don't hold.

I cannot express the immense privilege of doing trauma therapy with clients. The levels of trust required to share the worst moments of your life with a perfect stranger are enormous, especially after life has hurt you so badly, and repeatedly. This work is an honour.

One of my least favourite things about training is that there is always so much to do that I don't stop to celebrate the successes as they happen, because we are always moving on to the next thing. A comment from a friend today reminded me that celebrating the wins is important.

@DanielaZigova The PTMF is an emerging, new development in our field, and not understanding it and considering/critiquing it would be a huge oversight if we want to be staying informed and up to date in our work with clients. Nobody is forcing trainees to use it, or agree with it.

There aren't the words to describe the rollercoaster of emotions that I am experiencing in my last 2 weeks of my final placement. Excitement for the future, pain and heartbreak at the loss of leaving, gratitude for everything that I have gained, hope for what I have left behind.

The levels of hatred and rage I hold for our government feels overwhelming. The complete lack of humanity, the lack of willingness to do the right thing. Its disgusting. I'm appalled to be represented by politicians with such disregard of human life and suffering.

It's terrifying how utterly exhausted, perpetually tired and physically drained I feel at the moment, having taken no longer than 2 days annual leave since Christmas. I am desperate for a week off in the comfort of home, with good food and good friends. Cannot come soon enough.

Two years after this article, my work around emptiness continues. Tomorrow I will present to Psychologists in North London, encouraging conversation about how we support people who feel empty in our mental health services. .

Spent my day on placement watching talks and presentations by @JacquiDillon and @ClinpsychLucy - always my place to go whenever I need a bit of extra fire in my belly. Thank you both for all that you do. You inspire me constantly.

So while, I don't have time to pop the champagne and I might not be able to give these these wins the celebration that they deserve. I'm putting them here, because the wins (big and small) are what make the hard days worth it, and this was the stuff I previously dreamed of 👌🏻☁️

Spent the drive home to Scotland today thinking about the privilege of being able to return to a safe home, and to choose to be with loved ones at this time of year. Thinking of all those who this isn't a possibility for.

Today is my last placement MPR of the DClinPsy. And I have 8 weeks left on placement ever. Wow. I'm not even sure what to do with this information.
