Four years into a fight vs. bladder cancer. I type words - hopefully impeccably - on the Montreal Alouettes, and other sports, for the Montreal Gazette
Eight months to the day after being diagnosed with bladder cancer, and following three surgeries, happy to report all the tumours were superficial. Next step in the process will be treatment
Happy to share this information ... In my battle against bladder cancer, had a clear cystoscope today. But as I tell people, this is a marathon, not a sprint. And, since I cover boxing, score this a 10-8 round. For me!

For anyone who was wondering or cares, I return to the
#AlsMTL
beat tomorrow. My surgery for bladder cancer was four weeks ago today. I hope my faithful readers, if any, will return.
I’m relieved to report my cystoscope this morning, for the third consecutive time, was clean. Only two years into this battle, so more hurdles to overcome. Nonetheless, I can’t say enough about Dr. Fred Saad and the staff at the CHUM 🙏
My beloved Bailey was diagnosed with a tumour on his lung last February. He was given two months but fought his way until tonight, Sept. 25. I’ve had dogs. I’ve lost dogs. Never was one so attached to me, and I to him 😢 RIP Little Guy
4-0 ... as in four clear cystoscopes. And counting. Not going to suggest it’ll be an undefeated season, but am hoping to make the playoffs. Relieved.

I've seen a lot of great games in 22 seasons covering
#AlsMTL
- and some that were not so good. This one tonight ranks near the top of the former. This team has character and pride. This victory might well go a long way towards defining their season
#AlsMTL
safety Ty Cranston, whom I’ve never said two words to, came up me after Saturday’s game and wished me luck in my fight against bladder cancer. I won’t forget this gesture
I’ve covered the
#CFL
and
#Alouettes
since ‘97. Let there be no mistake or anything misconstrued. There are great Canadians capable of playing EVERY position - even QB.
If I understand this correctly, Saskatchewan missed the playoffs again but Jason Maas and Cody Fajardo - the two scapegoats in 2022 - are going to the Grey Cup
I feel compelled to thank everyone for the love, affection and heartwarming feelings that have washed over me the last few days. It has been simply overwhelming and I thank everyone who took a few moments out of their busy schedules. You all made me feel special
Horrible news to share. I’m told former

RB Dahrran Diedrick succumbed to cancer overnight. Here was his story …

To save everyone from asking after the fact, thought I’d let people know I won’t be covering

game at Winnipeg Friday night. I had surgery Tuesday to remove a cancerous polyp from my bladder. Hope to return soon
For 3 of my 6 treatments at the CHUM, my nurse was Adeline. I’m sorry if my spelling’s incorrect but she knows who she is ... 15th floor ... and I couldn’t have gotten through this without her calm and caring demeanour. Merci toujours. Thanks to the student nurses as well ...
Be grateful for what you have. Make your health priority

. As I sit here waiting for treatment and look around the room, I realize there are plenty of people worse off than myself
I’m terribly sorry to learn of the passing this morning of Winnipeg Free Press sports columnist Randy Turner. He was a truly gifted writer with a tremendous sense of humour. My deepest condolences to the family
Here's my obit on Mike Soles - a class act and the first player I met, at camp in '97, who introduced himself to me and offered his assistance covering

Courageous Pointe-Claire football great Michael Soles dies at age 54
People think you have a problem when you drink alone. In honour of having the house to myself - other than the two mutts - I’m drinking alone! And loving it!!!
Les propos de Marc-Antoine Dequoy n'ont pas dérangé ses coéquipiers anglophones, au contraire, ils se sont sentis solidaires envers tous les francophones:

Today is World Cancer Day. Please take a moment to think about all our cherished ones who have been touched by this disease. I lost my mother to it. I continue to fight bladder cancer
I’m stunned, saddened and virtually speechless to have learned of the sudden passing of CTV Montreal retired sportscaster
@SportsStache
. One of the nicest journalists I ever crossed paths with. Randy was a guy who always had a smile on his face and made me feel better ...
Michael Reilly’s retirement deprives the CFL of one of the greatest ambassadors the league has ever had, not to mention one helluva player. He will be missed big time.
Hearing the contract of

president
@MCecchiniALS
won’t be renewed when it expires, Dec. 31 - despite attendance and corporate sponsorship increasing under his watch. Quite frankly, I don’t get it
I’m told Charlie Taaffe, head coach of
#AlsMTL
in 1999-2000, passed away Tuesday night of cancer. He was 69. I’m filled with wonderful memories of one of the best people I knew in football. May he rest in peace
Here's the latest on

ownership, according to my sources. The Lenkov brothers will be the majority owners ... 51 per cent. Claridge and Pierre Boivin will have the remaining 49 per cent. Deal expected to close within 7-10 days
Bittersweet day.

begin training camp this afternoon and, for the first time in a long while, I won’t be there. Now I kind of know how an athlete feels after he retires

I’m not sure how this is going to end, but it appears all the work

put in the last three seasons is going down the drain. Could he resign? Could the

franchise fold? Anything’s possible at this point. What say you
@RandyAmbrosie
? This is an absolute travesty
People think they’re bothering me when they ask, sometimes frequently, how I’m doing. It shows you care. For those who don’t ask, the silence is deafening. And I’ve been keeping score
As I’m sitting here at the CHUM, waiting to see my oncologist for an appointment, I’m amazed by the plethora of those also waiting ... suffering from cancer ... waiting to be diagnosed ... wondering ... fearful and anxious
That's all folks. Canadiens coverage will return to a healthy

beginning Saturday. I hope some of you out there enjoyed what I brought to the beat for the last six or seven weeks

DC Rich Stubler has been going around practice this week on a motorized cart. Seems he broke five ribs riding his bicycle this week when a parked car didn't see him and opened the door. But he hasn't missed a day of work. And he's nearly 70!
Saddened to learn of the loss of Red Fisher, who forgot more about covering a beat than I'll never know; but a man who taught me so many of the principles that I continue using today in my daily reporting. I was so honoured to have known and worked with the man. Rest in peace.
According to my sources, there’s no deal or verbal agreement as of yet to sell

Too many people are talking about the Raptors like they’re already in the NBA finals. May I remind everyone the Leafs were home for Game 6 and couldn’t put the Bruins away
So ... my sources are telling me Eric Lapointe and his group of investors never dropped out of the running to potentially purchase
#AlsMTL
. I hope the
#CFL
realizes there was a buzz around this team in April, for the first time in years, when he was linked to this.
More and more people - even those from the corporate world - keep telling me Quebecor, in other words Pierre Karl Peladeau, is the exclusive group negotiating with the CFL to purchase
