A long duration snowstorm (about 36 hours) is about to begin in DC. That will make seasonal snowfall to date unbelievably lopsided in favor of DC over Boston, a very unusual occurrence. But, there is the “potential” of some snow accumulation in The Boston area next weekend #wcvb.

All signs pointing to a strong Nor'easter for the end of the week. Heavy Rain, Heavy Wet Snow, Powerful NE winds and Coastal Flooding are all potentially in play. it will likely begin late Thursday or Thursday Night. It will likely be a fairly slow mover. #wcvb.

Interesting that we had significant snow in early December and accumulating snow in the 2nd half of April, while we had very little snow during winter itself. Something similar happened in the winter of 1981-1982. Just 2 big snowstorms. Dec.5-6 and April 6-7 #wcvb

The next major nor'easter that begins around midnight Mon. Night and continues thru Tuesday is extremely likely to bring at least 6"+ of snow, with 12"+ a real possibility. in other words 6-12"+. Also a strengthening NE wind during Mon. Nt., & a strong N-NW wind Tue #wcvb.

Approximate snow accumulation areas. difficult to draw, let alone predict, because it ranged from a small amount of slush at Logan Airport to about a foot of snow as nearby as Lexington. Much of Middlesex and Worcester Counties received 10-20" of snow. #wcvb

Slow moving Nor'easter begins late Mon. or Mon. Nt.& continues Tue. As of now, best CHANCE of seeing snow eventually mix with or change to rain would be SE MA & Cape Cod, especially Nantucket. But, any area that remains all snow will likely receive a substantial amount #wcvb
