You are. And this is gross. Yall just can’t even try to be humane. It’s just not in you. And that is the true mental problem.
Chyna Gibson was the Candy Girl in my life. Murdered February 25, 2017 in New Orleans. 2 months before my wedding that she was scheduled to be in and 3 months before her reassignment surgery. She was so close. I miss her everyday.

It’s Black gay pride in Houston and I had the honor of organizing and facilitating an intimate conversation with
@PeteButtigieg
and some of Houston’s Black LGBTQ leaders! Nice meeting
@Chas10Buttigieg
as well! 🏳️🌈
Our City’s obsession with optimism that propels avoidance, and our ability to perform resilience so well that it absolves leadership of solving very hard problems.
Juneteenth is the perfect day to let you know that Houston’s African American Research Center is hiring for a manager! Cool place that’s all about Black Houston!
Requires an ALA accredited Master's degree in Library Science or a Master’s in History or a related field.
The energy and excitement around voting in Houston is a drastic change from the past! Buddy’s- A gay bar as a polling location is one of my favorite things to see this election cycle.

Many of us in Houston will rush to return to work on Monday as if things are ok. We have a very bad habit of rushing to resilience as we navigate from crisis to crisis in effort to be branded as Houston Strong. I've learned that there ain't no honor in pretending. Be mindful.
@marclamonthill
He watched an interview between 2 Black men that had tons of things to critique and he still found a way to drag Black women into this. 🙄
I had a small town, very Black coming out. My mom hosted a fish fry with friends, invited me, and said she had something to ask.😳Privately she asked if I was gay. I said yes. We returned to the party and her friends read our smiles and yelled “turn the mf’n music up” 🕺🏾💃🏾🏳️🌈
I'd love to read a bunch of personal stories from LGBTQIA folks who had an unexpectedly positive experience with coming out to their parents and what it meant for and to them. I could be wrong, but I suspect such a collection would also be valuable to future parents generally.
Oh don’t mind me. Just the first Black man to be the Pride Grand Marshal of the 4th largest city in the U.S. It’s Pride Week in Houston!🏳️🌈

Houston Pride parade started in 1979 by a Black man who was erased from history/forgotten. Tonight he marched in the parade for the first time since 1986. It has been my honor to find him, celebrate him and nominate him as this year’s Honorary Grand Marshal.

The 16th trans murder this year has happened here in Houston. Rest In Peace Tracy Single. We have lit City Hall and the Bridges over Hwy 59 in trans colors in her honor tonight/tomorrow. As we

The way that she was able to weave a policy position on Prep, Bayard Rustin, Harvey Milk, a personal story with HIV, understanding of racial disparity within the LGBTQ community, and a hopeful charge to end HIV. Masterful!!!!
Last night thousands of Black gay men convened to fundraise and organize for
@KamalaHarris
Here she is years ago talking about the disparities in the LGBT community between Black and white gay men:
Cicely Tyson’s hat is speaking!
And it’s saying:
Who got the body?
She look like she sleeping.
Are there any more programs?
Yah’ll going the the grave site?
And where are they feeding the family?

We are really gonna miss

in 5th Ward. Here is the last time we saw her publicly dancing with us at our festival.
With the people.
For the people.
If we stop seeing people yelling at

meetings as a lack of decorum and instead see it as a result of hurt, harm, and being unheard… we may be able to get to the root of the issues. People simply want to be informed, included, respected, and heard. (Early on)
My gift to Houston. My protest to the world.
@UrbanSouls
Dance Company. When I founded this company I had no idea it would still be here 16 years later. I just wanted to create a space where Black dancers could tell Black stories in a space that was void of racism. 🖤
Today I helped to vaccinate 450 people at the DeLUXE theater in 5th Ward. My feet are on fire but it was so worth it! Let’s continue the work in our respective communities. ❤️
Happy to cast my vote today for
@SylvesterTurner
for Mayor. When it comes to equity, diversity, and inclusion he is a proven true champion. Let’s continue the work to make Houston a city for everyone. 🏳️🌈
There’s a new billboard in Houston that serves as reminder to protect Black trans women. This is a demand. Not a suggestion. Black trans women deserve our very best!
Being a Black Texan is so triggering. Not only do we have a Governor who’s never seen in Black or multicultural spaces, but he also doesn’t want those spaces to exist. Disgusting.
I was invited one year to speak at a HS for Black History month from a Black/gay perspective. Exciting! Right? The organizer thought it would be great if one of the baby gays introduced me. He introduced me as an ancestor!😂 I gave a look. He then said “my bad, elder” I was 37!
A mother raising a feminine Black boy in this world and in the Black community can be brutal to her, but my mama still found a way to give this Black gay man roots and wings. The world has lost a true gem. RIP Mom. 💕🏳️🌈
The Houston Pride Parade was founded in 1979 by an out & proud Black gay man, Larry Bagneris, Jr. He had a blast at the 46th Pride yesterday. Lets continue to share and protect his legacy and work towards creating a city that’s not only diverse, but also equitable & inclusive.🏳️🌈
As someone that grew up in Galveston County, it’s really weird to see other cities center themselves in the Juneteenth holiday. This should absolutely be in Galveston, Tx. And maybe they can create the Opal Lee Juneteenth Museum to honor her work. Not National tho.
Plans are moving forward for the National Juneteenth Museum, a $70 million project in Fort Worth, Texas, which aims to open in time for the holiday in 2024. It is the brainchild of Opal Lee, a local resident known as "the grandmother of Juneteenth."

The gay insinuations are not cool. If you want to get answers about the position, fine. But using sexuality as a negative political jab should disqualify anyone from leading a city. These actions imply a very antiquated and dangerous view of LGBTQ people. Buzbee should be ashamed
.
@TonyBuzbee
says an outside investigator should examine Turner's relationship w/Agumagu: "I want to know how many times the mayor's security detail took him to visit Agumagu...We need to know how many times Agumagu visited the mayor at City Hall & what trips they took together."
Our hearts are with the loved ones of Tracy Single, a Black transgender woman killed in Texas. It's imperative that national media report on violence against transgender people, especially transgender women of color.

It was a way to bring focus to the intersection of being Black/LGBTQ. I’m reimagining the concept as an art exhibition and it opens tomorrow!!!
As it relates to growing up around Black women- White Diamonds gets a lot of attention but who knows about that skin so soft??? Who was your Avon lady! 🤣
I mean this with all sincerity…. I know this administration has a safety focus…. But do people in Houston really feel unsafe? I just feel like I’m missing something.
Houston Mayor John Whitmire proposes 5% budget cuts for all Houston city departments — except police and fire. The two departments combined currently make up about half of the city’s operating budget.
Relationships are not hard they are hard work. And the key is to find someone that you’re willing to work hard for and with. Today makes 14 years of love and 4 years of marriage. There’s nothing like having a partner that sees all of you and inspires the best version of you. 🤴🏾🤴🏾
