First visit to Hulton Abbey today - a 13th century Cistercian monastery founded by Henry de Audley and dedicated to the Virgin Mary. There’s not that much left to see - and it could really do with some interpretation boards - but it’s a lovely little Stoke-on-Trent heritage site.

Just been looking back at all the national news outlets that covered the ‘error’ at the time - and now it turns out the Wedgwood sculpture was most definitely NOT destroyed accidentally.
Former deputy council leader Daniel Jellyman backed plans to destroy a brick sculpture of Josiah Wedgwood in a seven-word email after officers advised him that the cost of relocating the artwork would be ‘too high’.

There is only one pottery factory in the world still using the tissue transfer technique to decorate its ware - and it's here in Stoke-on-Trent. And in that one factory, there are just 12 people with the skills to do it…
