It’s official, I’m heading to Paris! 🇫🇷
SO excited to be selected to represent
@ParalympicsGB
at my fourth Paralympic Games 🤩
A huge thank you to my team, sponsors and supporters for getting me this far.
67 days to the opening ceremony!
LETS GO! 🇬🇧
It will never not annoy me that Euston tube station isn’t accessible. It’s a central transport hub for half of England & I can’t get off the tube there. I have to get off at Kings Cross and push for 10-15 minutes, whilst everyone else can just sit on the tube for an extra minute!
2021: what an incredible year!
12 new World Records ⏱
2 Paralympic titles 🥇
An engagement 💍
And now…
Hannah Cockroft OBE🎖
Thank you for all the amazing support- 2022 has a lot to live up to!💫
I’m so sad to read the negative responses to
@bbcstrictly
bringing a wheelchair user onto the show. I took part in
@sportrelief
special back in 2014 & it was the hardest thing I’ve ever done! Wheelchair dance is tough, it would have been a dream for me to see it when I was young.
British Sportswoman of the year 2017! Wow. The first para athlete ever to win this award in its 58 year history. Double WOW. Thank you so much for all the lovely messages and massive thank you
@SportSJA
for helping me make history with this vote!
#ProudParalympian
I think you’ll find I was maybe the first athlete to win five world titles in the same individual track event- or maybe even another para athlete before me!
But I forgot, Para athletics isn’t the same sport, is it? 🙄
In the space of 10.67 seconds, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce streaked to a 100m victory that ensured she became the first athlete to win five world titles in the same individual track event
Report from
@benbloomsport
with Dina Asher-Smith finishing fourth
To add insult to injury, just arrived for my train with
@AvantiWestCoast
and they’ve over booked their wheelchair spaces, so I can’t get on the train. I now have to sit on the platform for an hour and wait for the next one and just hope they’ve not done the same thing again.
12 time World Champion, 20 time International Gold medalist (Paralympics, World & European Championships) and World record holder. Thanks Dubai, you’ve been everything I could have hoped for 💕 and thank you 🇬🇧 for all the incredible support! 🙏🏻
#HurricaneHannah
Thankyou so much for all the messages & support! I’m reading everything single one of them, but I’ve got my head down concentrating on the 800m at the end of the week now.
So happy & relieved that I could deliver what I’ve been doing in training. Onto the next one now!
#Tokyo2020
Chair unpacked ✅
First session in Japan ✅
Great British weather followed us 6000miles ✅🌧
Great facilities provided by
@ParalympicsGB
for the holding camp here in Kawasaki. Looking forward to some fast sessions on this track.
10 days to go!
#ImpossibleToIgnore
#Paralympics
On the track I heard a child explaining to their friend who I was: “that’s Hannah Cockroft! She’s the best Paralympian in the... well, in the area.” 😳 kids will always keep you grounded! 😂
#ThingsKidsSay
So, that’s it. I’ve done all I can do and after a long 7 month season my
@ParaAthletics
World Championships start tomorrow!! My 100m final is at the ghastly time of 5.25am UK time (9.25am here) so I’m not expecting loads of people to tune in, but there is a live stream!
Fastest British woman EVER over the 800m, regardless of class. I will never be able to tell anyone how hard I have worked for, or how much I have wanted to do that.
Disabled people can’t be late, they can’t even be on time, they have to constantly be early or left behind.
So a journey that takes the average person 20 minutes has taken me just short of an hour, because British transport isn’t accessible.
And I’m still on my train 10 minutes before it’s due to leave! But apparently, I was a ‘no show’…
Maybe accessibility staff need to spend a day in our shoes, so they see the hurdles we have to jump over just to get to them 20 minutes early!

A year ago today I finished my TV presenter training with
@AspireTV
. I was so nervous about applying for the course. A year down the line I’m a presenter for
@BBCCountryfile
and I’ll be on
@greatbbakeoff
on 5th March! Dreams do come true when you work for them 💫
Last track meet before heading off to Tokyo ✈️🇯🇵
Happy to have recorded my second fastest time ever over 400m, fighting against all weather conditions. All heading in the right direction for 17 days time!
A treat to be at
@BBCSPOTY
tonight. A very different night to normal, but a fantastic chance all the same to celebrate an incredible year of sport. Tune in on
@BBCOne
now!
#SPOTY
1️⃣ meet, 1️⃣ day, 4️⃣ new personal best times! ⏱😱
Unfortunately the meet wasn’t
@ParaAthletics
sanctioned so the times won’t stand as World Records, but to go under the 100m, 200m, 400m and 800m World Records is one day is definitely not what I expected this year!
The treatment of disabled people in this country is disgusting and getting worse.
Can’t get out of my chair and just sit in a seat because of ‘health and safety’, so just have to be late.
Imagine only letting 4 prams on one train? Or 4 able bodied people, or 4 children?
Should have posted this a while ago…
I start racing tomorrow!
The T34 100m final will be at 10.25am Tokyo time 🇯🇵 02.25am UK time 🇬🇧
All the work has been done, just have to hope now that it’s enough.. thank you for all the support and lovely messages! Let’s go 💪
To the woman that bought me a new training outfit at
@UnderArmourUK
in Cheshire Oaks today, thank you. Not just for the kit, but for reminding me that even if brands don’t get behind us, the British public always will. And you are the only people I want to represent 🇬🇧
Thank you for naming me your disability sportswoman of the year
@SportLeeds
! Hope I can make the city and county proud again in a few months time 🏅
#LSA20
Thrilled to have retained my 400m British Champion title! 🇬🇧🥇
@Sam_Kinghorn
put up a good fight so I’m so happy with my performance. Thanks
@BritAthletics
for a great event, para inclusion and putting our sport back in front of a crowd.
#MullerBritishChamps
This is a brilliant demonstration from Claire as to why wheelchair users need to park in disabled bays. It's not to be close to the door on a rainy day- it's to be independent! Please remember video this next time you consider using a disabled bay without a blue badge!
Sometimes people wonder how I get in/out the car, get my wheelchair in & then drive when I am paralysed from the chest down.
Lightweight wheelchairs, car adaptions etc give independence back 😁(people parking in disabled bays with no blue badge often remove this independence)😱
What a journey its been 😱
10 years ago today I pulled on my first ever
@BritAthletics
vest, at my first ever international event & climbed onto my first ever podium 🥇
What a 10 years it has been! 5x Paralympic champ, 12x world champ & so many memories.
Here’s to the next 10 😉
So disappointing to see no para- athlete nominated again this year. Although we don't want to be seen as the 'token' nomination, it'd be nice to have outstanding performances recognised when deserved. Maybe, & I hate myself for saying this, maybe it's time for a disability award?
Your
@BBCSPOTY

So happy, so relieved!
My name is on the list and I’m off to my THIRD
@Paralympics
in Tokyo! 🇯🇵
It’s been a long 5 years but we’re nearly there… 🇬🇧😁 62 Days to go!
My wheelchair has HELPED me work on my condition. It’s made me stronger, in less pain and more independent. And a Paralympian at the Paralympics is just as good as a Paralympian at the Olympics! A wheelchair isn’t a sign of inability, it’s a sign of freedom. ♿️

"Do you want to sit in a wheelchair all your life or actually get up and work on your condition?"
That was the question Nic Hamilton faced and it's fair to say he's answered it in some fashion!
Here's his story:
One week ago 🤩
Looking forward to celebrating at the
@ParalympicsGB
homecoming today! 🇬🇧
Thank you for all the support and lovely messages, I haven’t gotten through them all yet but I will!
To make matters worse, you’ve tackled the push between stations, the slow walkers and the wheely suitcases and check in to assistance, only to be told you were marked as a ‘no show’ 20 minutes before your train is due to leave!
Rest in Peace Queen Elizabeth II.
Our longest reigning monarch, the only one I’ve ever known, & an inspiration to all.
I am honoured to have met you, & served you, as Deputy Lieutenant of Calderdale.
Thank you for your years of duty, service & dedication to our Commonwealth.
I feel like there are more important things to gain equality on first.. I mean, I’ve never been offended by the little red man being able to walk for a start!
My last film with
@BBCCountryfile
is on now! This week, I’m in the Outer Hebrides meeting Fraser and his beautiful highland cattle. It was my absolute favourite to film and a true once in a lifetime experience 🐮
Thank you for all the messages regarding yesterdays train dilemmas!
Thankfully, Avanti have been in touch & my return journey has been much smoother.
We must speak out every time these things happen though, to draw attention, to raise awareness and to eventually make change!🚂
It’s been 9 years since I was classified & confirmed as a T34. Today, I went through a new & improved system. Unfortunately, I still have brain damage. Thanks for the complete & thorough check though
@ParaAthletics
! The Swiss Grand Prix starts for me with the T34 200m tomorrow!
WATCH: How cute is this! 😍
A six-year-old girl from Harrogate with cerebral palsy is walking 10 miles to raise money for the NHS. Emily Caffrey was inspired by Captain Tom Moore. She's already raised over £4000. What do you think
@captaintommoore
?
#HelpingOthers
Absolutely disgusted with
@qatarairways
@British_Airways
. Travel agents got permission to travel our wheelchairs on the flight, got to check in and told they won’t take it without a £700 extra charge, as our wheelchairs are classed as baggage too!...
I didn’t get to go down the red carpet at
@BBCSPOTY
this year, so here’s just some proof that I actually eventually made it! On a plus note though, you didn’t see the dress, which means I can wear it again 🙌
#SPOTY18
Great to see
@BBCCountryfile
celebrating women in today’s episode. I’ve had the absolute pleasure of presenting for the programme this year and my first film will be aired on 13th January! I’m so proud of it, & I’m so thankful for the opportunity. I hope you enjoy it!
Said it before & I’ll say it again, there HAS to be a better way to book accessible tickets! 90minutes on hold so far for
@edsheeran
& I probably won’t get any. If I could just click the seat I want & pay online like others though I’d have them by now!

Today is
#InternationalWheelchairDay
! A made up day but anything to raise awareness is good. Growing up, I avoided my wheelchair, now it is my freedom, my speed & my victory. I hope I can encourage others to have the confidence to find their independence in this mobility aid.
Today is my first international race since the World Champs in 2019!
Heading out in the 800m today, hoping the weather perks up a bit...
You can catch the full days events at
@ParaAthletics
Swiss Grand Prix on the live stream, here:
Our
@airfrance
flight has been delayed for 3 hours so far, & counting, but the staff will NOT let us off the ambi- lift to sit in the terminal with the other passengers. This is discrimination, our boarding passes have been taken from us & we are locked onboard!
@RightsOnFlights
10.4 MILLION people in the UK now officially being told they’re not important or welcome by
