With Jacksonville St becoming a Q3 win, Alabama has officially not played a single Q4 game. They’re the only team ranked in the top 40 in NET that has not. For reference, Gonzaga has played 7 and Baylor 6. Alabama is 7th in NET and has the most Q1&Q2 wins in the country at 14.

With the first 2019-20 NCAA NET rankings being released today, it’s a good time to remember that a team’s own NET ranking does not matter nearly as much as its opponents’ NET rankings. You are trying to build a resume, not attain the highest NET possible.

This happens every single year. There will be 5-10 teams that are 55+ in NET that will get at-large bids, and 5-10 teams in the NET top 50 that won’t. Translation: Your RESUME is much more important than your RANKING. Which is why SCHEDULING is vital to a program’s success.
Virginia Tech (16-10) is 35th in the NET, but doesn't own a Quad 1 win & has four Quad 2 wins. Miami (18-7) is currently 67th in the NET & has FOUR Quad 1 wins & FOUR Quad 2 wins. The Hurricanes also won at Duke & beat Virginia Tech head-to-head. Anarchy? . Nope. Just Metrics.
