@johnb_sp My favorite is when they submit a breakdown request, then it turns out it was actually another coach’s player and then uses the same info to perform their own breakdown on it 😂

@hudd07 @PitchingNinja Was realistically about 60% strikes - would like that number to be higher on Friday, but the focus was that it was my first high effort pen in almost 6 weeks

Front foot down, then throw, is the feeling you want. Allow your delivery to happen, get to a strong position at foot strike, then bring down the house. Well timed intensity. Stay sideways as long as possible. Gather rhythm before foot strike, get violent after. Resist trunk rotation, rotate late in a hallway, be patient. I am now available for private one-on-one training in the Bay Area. Reach out for more information.

We’ve used the phrase “creating tension”, but how do we accomplish that through the middle of our body? Setting the hips up to create ER and increase usable tension throughout the stride phrase typically fits in this format: 1. The midline or the back hip travels forward while remaining level 2. The back knee stays stacked over the rubber 3. The foot drives down and remains connected to the floor to complete the chain and set up for counter-rotation of the back hip (not to be confused with excessive torso counter rotation) When done correctly, the back hip unravels or rotates violently in a much tighter window of time 💪🏼🔥 @FlatgroundApp

We talked about establishing the hinge in the back hip, but why is it so important? To simplify it, the hinge set us up to allow the hips to move freely and travel forward without the back knee and foot losing composition over the rubber.  If we are “throwing on stilts” the knee will have no choice, but to inevitably fall in, and we lose out on the ability to rotate the back hip into internal rotation.  The hinge sets us up for an opportunity it’s not only build tension on the backside, but to use it effectively in our rotation phase at foot strike 💪🏼 Want a free pitching mechanics breakdown and our In-Season Protocol? Find yourself moving slowly down the mound? Try to make your shoulders and hips match the slope as he move down the mound. Whenever we see the front hip hike up and elevate, we know we’re slowing ourselves down and preventing ourselves from accepting momentum provided by the slope. If we stay level with the shoulders and pelvis, all that’s left to do is ride and rotate 🔥 Want a free pitching mechanics breakdown and our In-Season Protocol? The janitor drill has been shared for many years and has more than likely been spotted on your feed. It’s important to understand the focus and why we do this drill, so turn your volume up and give in a listen as to how we use this drill properly 💪 Want a free pitching mechanics breakdown and our In-Season Protocol? The goal should be to challenge yourself to simplify the delivery as much as you possibly can. -Gather -Ride -Rotate Gather and load over the back leg and hip, ride that closure through the stride phase and rotate the back hip as you land into foot strike, to transfer built up energy💪 Want a free pitching mechanics breakdown and our In-Season Protocol? Keeping this one short and simple, I’m sure you’ve heard the concept of parallel planes, but why is it so important? In essence, the more contralateral tilt we create through the stride phase, the harder it is to create separation. If you were to try and stand up right and crunch one of your obliques and then try to rotate it from that shortened position, would it be easier or difficult? It’s OK to have that tension as you’re moving through the stride phase, so long as it is able to relax and capture effectively into landing - the name of the game is finding where tension is needed, in order to use it as we move into a whippy and more relaxed position at foot strike. The goal is simple: Allow the lead to assist with closing off the back hip and hiding it away from the catcher. Hold that position to create tension through the middle of your body. Unleash that tension as you rotate into foot strike to leverage the upper half. Everything between those three things are nuances based on individuals. It’s very easy to go down rabbit holes and lose the things that make us great athletes along the way 🔥 Want a free pitching mechanics breakdown and our In-Season Protocol? Want to know if your stuff is good or not? Throw to live hitters and tell the hitter what’s coming. Using a personal experience from my old college days, every winter in our first two live sessions we had to tell the hitter what was coming. Not only did this remove the doubt of whether or not it was the correct pitch, it allowed us to understand that execution of your arsenal will more times than not put you in a position to succeed. Nobody is more confident on the field than a pitcher who is willing to share what is coming next with the hitter 💪🏼🔥🫡 Want a free pitching mechanics breakdown and our In-Season Protocol?
