We're SILKs! (Single Income Lots of Kids)
We:
-Have a lively home full of love and joy.
-Are training up the next generation of disciples.
-Invest in our future by ensuring our legacy.
-Are more concerned with the eternal than the things of this world.
DINKS begone!
Covenant Theology isn't Replacement Theology.
Israel is pruned, the Gentiles are grafted in, ethnic Israel can be grafted in again through the same means. But the tree is still the Israel of God. His elect people. Predestined to adoption as sons from the foundation of the world.
I don't understand why Christians are charging each other thousands of dollars for speaking engagements.
Coverage for travel, lodging, some food, sure. But just for the privilege of hearing you speak? Bro the Bible is free and it's actually got authority you don't. Pass.
Now that it's not April Fools' anymore, here's my take:
Friends was a vital tool of the enemy in enslaving a whole generation (namely, mine) to sexual sin through cultivation of indifference.
The sudden shift toward hatred of adoptive families is the first thing that has legitimately astounded me from the left in ages.
I used to think nothing surprised me anymore. I'm starting to worry we've only scratched the surface of the depravity we're going to see around this.

Red Herring. I am equally outraged at both, but you're changing the subject to deflect the argument.
Also, your argument boils down to "kids today are treated poorly so we should just kill them before they make it into the world."
If you're a young man/woman still working out your theology, it's generally a good principle for you to stay silent and listen to more experienced voices.
This also applies if you came to a new position 5 minutes ago.
Baptist bros: please don't be cringe and post your criticism of paedobaptism on posts where our paedobaptist brothers are having their children baptized.
They're wrong, but it's kind of tactless lol.

Banks are private institutions that can finance whatever they deem profitable. To bully them into behaving in a certain way based on political stances is about as communist as it gets without being actual communism.
Interesting intersection of my interests here. This Halo content creator is currently coming under fire for hosting an event for female players and disallowing trans players.
First and foremost,
@MagickMoonshot
, props for sticking to your guns in this ridiculous culture. 🧵👇 /1
I am building out channels in my Discord for the Ladies' scrims on Saturday. I love and value all people, and as a Christian, I believe God created people in His image as male and female. (Genesis 5:1-2) Therefore, I will not be allowing trans players to participate.
We interrupt your regularly scheduled SBC drama for the following important announcement:
Last night at 11:45pm, Erin Ruth Kite entered the world. Mom and baby are doing amazingly, and everyone is smitten. Praise God from whom all blessings flow!
This is a masterclass in how to respond openly and honestly to the media as a Christian politician seeking to enact overtly Christian legislation.
I will be dissecting this with my Political Theology class this weekend. It will be a helpful case study!
12 Brief Notes on the
@RollingStone
article.
1. I’ve cut my own hair since I was a junior in high school. Thanks for the compliment. Also, my jackets are not tailored. Maybe someday.
2. Unsurprisingly, you missed the distinction I made on “firewalls” between the church and
A bit of personal news: I'm finally ready to publicly announce that on August 10th I was accepted to be the Associate Pastor at Trinity Baptist Church in Wamego, KS.
We are excited for the move, and I am eager to get started with the work that the Lord has prepared for us there.
Would appreciate your prayers. My eldest tripped down a few steps and broke/fractured 4 bones in her foot. We'll be at the orthopedic surgeon tomorrow.
She's doing well, but it's not a fun time.
So many Christians on this platform are more concerned with whether our actions are "driving people away" than standing firm for biblical truth.
God is sovereign. He will gather his sheep.
Let your speech be seasoned with grace, but do not compromise doctrine to "be nice."
It was a special night for me. Trinity Baptist Church had an installation service to recognize me as their associate pastor.
I'm extremely blessed to serve this church, and I love the saints here so much already. Looking forward to 40 years of ministry, just like Tony before me.
I'm not a rabid CN type AT ALL, but it's becoming increasingly clear that those who are opposing it on this website are not doing so in good faith. Many folks who seemed reasonable 5 minutes ago are outing themselves as bad faith actors, and it's disappointing.
I would take the passionate, well-read, non seminary-trained pastor 99/100 times over the impassionate, dry seminarian.
I know too many good brothers with no formal education and too many formally educated men who have no business in the pulpit.
One saved!
And many opportunities to present the Gospel.
Pray for the young woman who decided to keep her baby, and for her friends who brought her and pleaded with her not to go through with the abortion.
Out at the abortion mill in Kansas City today with some good brothers. 3 mothers so far. Please pray that God would bring conviction and change their hearts and minds.
I can not emphasize enough how great this sermon was from
@Phil_Johnson_
.
The best part is he just got up there with 0 fanfare and just unleashed the fire hose of good doctrine on us with no warning whatsoever. 😅
It's been 60 degrees all week here in Kansas, but this wonderful morning, we woke up to a white Christmas.
To this Houston boy, it's like magic. The beauty of God shown forth in His creation.
@MattWalshBlog
"Does Brie Larson do a good job acting in the movie? Again, your question is stunningly mysognistic. Brie Larson isn't there to impress you. You have no right to judge her performance. She is not a puppet dancing on your string, you scum." 🤣🤣
3 months in, I can confidently say
#pastoring
is harder work then anyone ever imagines. It's good, rewarding work, but it's grueling and sometimes disheartening. Add to that family, seminary, association stuff, side-work with missions...it can pile up.
Pray for your pastors.
We had a wonderful time celebrating the 40th anniversary of the ministry of Pastor Tony Mattia and his wife Twila here at Trinity today. We were honored to host his long time friend
@tomascol
to preach this morning.
This is so demonic. Palm View First Baptist Church (SBC) was featured on Founders Ministries’ list of gospel-centered church by Florida SBC Pastor Tom Ascol.
We've been working toward a more Gospel-shaped liturgy over the last few weeks here at Trinity.
This order of service is the fruit of that labor. May God work through it mightily!
🧵One thing that always worries me as a pastor is what waters my flock is drinking from when they're away from the assembly.
It is important to teach the sheep how to discern water that will bring them life from water that has the potential to poison them.
Denault: "“The Baptists believed that before the arrival of the New Covenant, the Covenant of Grace was not formally given, but only announced and promised (revealed).” Distinctiveness of Baptist Covenant Theology, 62.
This is not Reformed theology.
People are piling on to this picture, calling these men posers and whatnot. Y'all. You can disagree with their theology without dumping on them for taking a nice pic.
Some of y'all will uncharitably criticize literally anything these men do.
It does not surprise me when Baptists move from Arminian to Calvinist and go STRAIGHT to Presbyterianism. I once took that same path.
The fault lies in us Baptists, who've failed to guard the good deposit and have let our Covenant Theology fall to the wayside.
We need recovery.
At the burning bush, Moses was made to remove his sandals in order to come into the presence of the Holy One.
In the incarnation, the Holy One removed our sandals to wash our feet Himself.
Doc gets a lot of hate these days, but let's be honest, what he did here is more relevant to the common people in the pew than the latest takes from CN or academic manifestos you usually get on this site.
Thanks for your work here, brother.
Just finished my review and rebuttal of
@ZachWLambert
's sermon. Total time: 3 hours, 50 minutes. Played the sermon in its entirety. Hope you all find it useful (though challenging).
Choosing not to support a candidate is not "throwing away your vote." It's using your vote as a statement.
A statement that would be much more effective if everyone who had the same sentiment would have the conviction to follow through 🤷♂️
The church spent so long pushing pragmatic, puddle-depth discipleship that now we have an entire generation who feels like they missed out on spiritual maturity that would have given them wisdom regarding marriage, family, careers, etc.
Now it's too late, and they're angry.
Christ's post-crucifixion soul descended into Sheol to free the captives held in Abraham's Bosom, proclaim his victory to the faithless in Hades and the fallen angels in the abyss, and to bind Satan in the lowest pit of Tartarus--because he has authority over it all.
My beloved grandmother, Joan Kite, went to be with the Lord early this morning. We took this picture in December, and we're so glad for the memory.
She was a godly woman, a true matriarch, and fiery as they come, even days before leaving us. Looking forward to seeing her again.
You will never be "closer to the source" with God than in the assembly of the saints, where He pours out his grace and we come into his spiritual presence to worship as His bride.
If you want to encounter God, go to church.
I always tell people exploring their spirituality: if you want to encounter God, don't go to church.
Get into nature. Alone. Sit in the quiet. Meditate. Get close to the source.
If you open your heart and mind, He will speak to you.
If you feel so inclined, we would appreciate prayer that the Lord would provide a home for our family to settle into. We have been renting since we moved to Kansas and the market continues to deteriorate.
It's a small thing in the grand scheme, but it's been discouraging.
4th century, but Ambrose of Milan forced Emperor Theodosius to do public penance for 8 months in the streets of Milan for the massacre he caused in Thessalonica. Then when he came back to the church he had to publicly repent before the congregation.
Somebody please show me where any of the New Testament churches spoke to the terrible abuses perpetrated by the Roman government in the first second and third century A.D. If there was ever a time, when the church, as church, had a right to speak, it was then.
This Thanksgiving, I'm grateful for the Marrow Men, both ancient and modern.
Thankful for the active and passive obedience of Christ. No hope without it.
