Wout van Aert had the most cursed year he could have imagined. Yet he still won 3 WT races and scored over 2900 UCI points, putting him into the top 10 in the current season. Most pro bike riders can only dream of having this success. In a season Wout will want to forget.

Absolutely loved this segment that Eurosport just aired, which had Jonas and Tadej praising each other and talking about how they respect one another and love to race against each other. Nice to see the reporting not leaning into all the fake drama and going the wholesome way.

I have seen Sepp Kuss do a lot of impressive things. Including winning a Grand Tour. But I think with the combination of strength and selflessness he showed today, this was the most impressive of them all. It's not always your own wins, that make you shine the brightest 💛

I think this moment in the bus says a lot about Jonas' character. Just before stage 1 he asks his teammates to get him to focus again if he gets scared in the bunch. Not being ashamed of that potential issue and openly asking for help is something not many people would do.

Reflection on Visma’s Tour: 3 riders couldn’t start due to sickness or injury. The two big stars that did start came from horrific crashes. Given that, 2nd in GC, a stage win, several stage 2nds by different riders and everyone finishing the Tour safely is an amazing result 🐝

This moment to me was the strongest Jonas has looked the entire race so far. He came from two positions behind Pogacar and had to bridge 10 meters. On gravel against a double winner of Strade Bianche, weighing 5-10kgs less. And he didn't look like he struggled at all.

Ok, I've been sad about Sepp not going for long enough now. Time to hype up Bart. He had one hell of a season so far and I'm so happy for him to get this shot. I have no doubt he'll work his heart out and be a great asset. Also big kudos to whoever scouted him. What a great find.

I'd like to see Visma take Olav to the TdF next year and Wout do Giro+Vuelta. Wout can have team support, like in this Vuelta. And Olav can have Christophe, he shouldn't need more. I think that maximizes chances for both of them, while not being too big a burden on Jonas' GC.

@OutOfCycling great job, we need more guys like him. Ideally official marshalls, but I'm not holding my breath for that

Hm. Not sure what to make of that. In terms of climbing, I think Vingegaard still looks good. Pogacar taking a few seconds out of him on a climb like that happened about 5 times in TdF 2023. The technical descending part also looked ok. But I'm super worried about the TTs now.

The "blacklist" in Politt's podcast is overblown. The really disgusting thing is bragging about laughing their ass off about Vingegaard looking scared. "Dann wird er so nervös und wir lachen uns da drüber schon ein bisschen kaputt halt weil er guckt dann nach links nach rechts"

Ha, so happy that Bini won but even more happy that Jasper didn't. I'm getting really petty about this but I want him to lose every sprint.

Cian ending his season and "working on some physical issues". Likely on what has plagued him in the first two Vuelta weeks. Hopefully whatever that is can get sorted out for good over the winter break.

Tour de Pologne showing the stages in full length, while the Vuelta a Espagna still can't afford the relay plane for more than three hours 🤡

I've been following Visma's reported 2025 signings in this Tour closely and Zingle and Campenaerts are really impressive. Very happy with those signings. S. Yates is struggling but I'm sure Visma can get more out of him with their dialed in GT prep than Jayco could this year.

If anyone needed any confirmation that Visma did indeed sign Simon Yates, Marijn Zeemann said in the rest day podcast: "Our main rivals are Remco, Primoz, Pogacar, also guys like Simon Yates, even though he's struggling a bit, Ayuso, Almeida..." Simon Yates is 15 minutes down 😂
