Wolf 1234M was a member of the Wapiti Lake Pack in Yellowstone. He was killed in 2021 outside of Yellowstone's boundary in Montana. He was simply killed for being a wolf. In 2021, 25 Yellowstone wolves were killed during the hunt. 19 in Montana, 4 in Wyoming, with 1 of those being poached, and 2 in Idaho. In previous years (2009 - 2020) and average of 4.3 wolves that primarily use YNP were killed each year. The 2021 - 2022 season, with 25 wolves, saw a 481% increase. This makes it harder to see wolves in Yellowstone by tourist. Wolves are one of the top animals that tourists come to Yellowstone to see. The other is grizzly bears.
